Re: [Pharo-project] Prematurely ending document on purpose with the SAXParser

by Hernán Morales Durand

Just for the record, I have to install the previous version of XML-Parser-JAAyer.50 until I find some time to work on this. [Pharo-project] Decompiler writing to a ReadStream

by Martin McClure

I'm seeing the following in 1.3 and a 1.4 build from a couple of weeks ago: ============== ***System error handling failed*** [...] ReadStream(Object)>>shouldNotImplement ReadStream>>nextPut: EncoderForV3PlusClosures(Encoder)>>allLiterals MethodNode>>generate: MethodNode>>generate MethodNode>>schematicTempNamesString CompiledMethod>>decompileWithTemps Decompiler>>decompileBlock: =============== Since the debugger can't open, I don't have much more information than this. Looking at the decompiler, it's clear that it sometimes initializes the Encoder's literalStream to a ReadStream, although that stream is never read from, only written to. Changing the initialization to a WriteStream just sends the system into infinite recursion. Any ideas on how to debug this? Thanks, -Martin

[Pharo-project] ProcessWrapper crashes image on startup

by Hernán Morales Durand

Anyone working with ProcessWrapper.dll plugin in Pharo 1.3? I've tested a bit and saved the image after a full GC. Now my developement image became unusable crashing on opening under all updated VM's (Croquet, CogVM and Stack). Moving out the .dll from image directory makes the image unresponsive. Any idea? crash.dmp attached. Cheers, Hernán

[Pharo-project] how should Pier file structures be serialized with Fuel?

by Yanni Chiu

An earlier version of Fuel did not having the substitution feature. So, I had custom mapping code to pre-process the structures before passing to Fuel for serialization, and to post-process the deserialized structures. The main purpose of the code was to nil out the PUSecurity objects, because they were linked to too many other Pier objects. I'm now eliminating the custom mapping code by using Fuel substitution. The PRFile object was handled by saving the file contents in an instance variable of the mapping object. I've eliminated the custom mapping object. Now, how should the file contents be saved/restored, using the substitution feature? I'm thinking of substituting a proxy object, which somehow "becomes" a PRFile after deserialization. Any other suggestions?

So, the answer for the question "Is there a simple way to improve the performance?" would be "No", right? 2011/11/16 Nicolas Cellier <nicolas.cellier.aka.nice(a)gmail.com> > I think that there are several issues: > > 1) Character with codePoint < 256 are unique, but Wider are not. > The characters are not stored in the WideString (which instead stores > the code points), but any enumeration using at: rather than wordAt: > will create an overhead. Re: [Pharo-project] WideString performance

by Dennis Schetinin

Sure. I've loaded CSVParser from http://www.squeaksource.com/CSVParser.html and patched one method there: nextRow | row | row := OrderedCollection new. stream skipSeparators. [self atEndOfLine] whileFalse: [row add: self nextValue]. *"stream skip: -1."* stream next = $, ifTrue: [row add: '']. ^ row This is how I test it: stream := FileStream readOnlyFileNamed: 'Data.csv'. [(CSVParser on: stream) useDelimiter: $;; rows ] ensure: [stream close]. I attach the bigger data file. The shorter one can be produced by deleting rows. 2011/11/16 Sven Van Caekenberghe <sven(a)beta9.be> > Dennis, > > On 16 Nov 2011, at 19:30, Dennis Schetinin wrote: > > > Hi! > > > > Parsing a UTF-8 CSV file with Russian symbols (using CSVParser), I found > it really slow. Hi Hilaire, there is two chinese Squeak mailing-lists : - http://groups.google.com/group/chinesesqueak - http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/squeak-cn The second one seems dead.
