[Pharo-project] [ANN] Spotlight like morph for pharo

by Esteban Lorenzano

Hi, I want to announce a little tool I made the other day (mainly because Mariano asked for it :) Do you remember algernon, that tool who was working in pharo 1.1 and is now obsolete? I used it all the time, and I always missed the ability to open browsers without having to type the class name in a workspace, or open a browser first, then look for the class. So, I created this: Gofer it squeaksource: 'Spotlight'; package: 'ConfigurationOfSpotlight'; load. ConfigurationOfSpotlight loadBleedingEdge. if you press shift+enter, you'll get a "spotlight" like morph, with a simple text input with OCompletion inside... is very simple and I think very useful. Of course it can be enhanced in a lot of ways... but let's here the community opinion first, and see if it worths to keep adding functionality.functionality. enjoy, Esteban ps: this is also an example of why I hate morphic so much (bah... current dirty implementation): I had to extend two classes just to change the editor used by a textmorph.... come on!!!!

You are probably not alone in your experience or desire. Hi Jimmie, Monticello: - MC automatically creates a new "branch" if you commit unmerged changes - Branches are not clearly visible in the GUI, though clearly present in the model What git does: - unmerged changes get rejected (unless forced) [svn did the same here] - clear notion of branches and versions (not based on the name of the commit) I could list some more shortcomings of MC, though as above they key issue is not the MC model but rather the GUI built around it :) best cami

Re: [Pharo-project] Which COG VM?

by Schwab,Wilhelm K

On Linux, I've had some **possible** problems with returning swords as out parameters. There is a lot going on in that case, so it's premature to blame the vm - this is with Eliot's latest build. Eliot's build have clear problems locating libraries on Ubuntu - looking for goodness in all the wrong places... Either way, I think there should be links to both sites and a clear drive to choose and fix a leader. I think somebody that maintains the website needs to replace the VM that is linked on the download page with the latest VM built in Jenkins. I had the same issues but when I switched to the latest built on Jenkins, I had no issues anymore.
