Fernando, Is that arquitecture enable the possibility of testing an UI application? i.e. is it possible to feed the application with fake events and wait for the results? [Pharo-project] we need more objects!

by Fernando Olivero

No more HandMorph taking care of everything! I found a use case for the reification of the user interface in Gaucho. In Gaucho, i have a user interface, which has attached peripherals: such as displays, mouse, keyboard, etc... And each peripheral takes care of the proper event, dispatched by the user interface ( which receives the VM events). With this scheme, you have more flexibility because you can plug/unplug peripheral devices as needed. For example, i'm coding a Gaucho Login Display. that presents the available sessions . I decided to use only keyboard based navigation, so to disable the mouse i simply unplug the mouse from the user interface ( as opposed to hack my way around HandMorph or PasteUpMorph). GauchoDisplayLogin>> initializeAttachedTo: aGUserInterface | mouse | super initializeAttachedTo: aGUserInterface. mouse := userInterface peripheralDeviceNamed: #mouse. mouse notNil ifTrue:[ mouse dettach ]. Re: [Pharo-project] The video about Athens

by Fernando Olivero

And i wanted to thank Igor for designing such a nice framework! People should start to use Athens, apps around Pharo would start be look waaaayyy cooler. Shortly, i will prepare a video on Gaucho as well, showcasing a zoomable user interface built on top of Athens. Gaucho is the first user of Athens, but we hope many more projects adopt it. Hi Tudor, I'm forwarding the notes and email i've sent when i successfully compiled Cairo. (You can check previous mails on this matter also) Hope it helps! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding the build, after a lonnnngg series of errors, i also managed to build universal binaries of Cairo, using MacPorts (brew just doesn't ease the task of creating 32 bit libraries). sudo port cairo +universal, worked for me, taking at least 30 min to build. ATTENTION: Before entering the port cairo install command, I've had to manually install appleGcc4.2, found @ [1] (file name gcc-42-5666.3-darwin11.pkg. Given that i have Lion, XCode4.2, and if you just allow macports to build appleGcc4.2, it will run a process that consumes resources and finally stalls your computer! I've attached a screen shot that may help somebody else, for setting up the examples. Using NativeBoost Cog VM for Mac, downloadable from NativeBoost site or Jenkins. ..... Fernando [1] http://r.research.att.com/tools/ sudo port install cairo +universal file /opt/local/lib/libcairo.2.dylib /opt/local/lib/libcairo.2.dylib: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures /opt/local/lib/libcairo.2.dylib (for architecture i386): Â Â Â Â Mach-O dynamically linked shared library i386 /opt/local/lib/libcairo.2.dylib (for architecture x86_64): Â Â Â Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library x86_64 On Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 12:47 AM, Francisco Garau <francisco.garau(a)gmail.com> wrote: > On 19 April 2012 23:06, Alexis Parseghian <a.parseg(a)gmail.com<mailto:a.parseg@gmail.com>> wrote: > On Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 6:16 PM, Igor Stasenko <siguctua(a)gmail.com<mailto:siguctua@gmail.com>> wrote: >> strange.. that video , if streamed from flash.. seems to be without >> sound track :( >> >> but if you click on "download this video" link, then everything is ok.. > > No such luck here ; no sound whatsoever, in any version, downloaded or streamed. > > > Same for me... no sound :-(

It's a will known bug from RPackage which have some issues when importing categorize :S This should be fixed soon. (for retrieving your class, do a Find, then if you right click on the empty class list, you can access the menu, and move the selected invisible class in the package you want) Ben On Apr 19, 2012, at 11:51 PM, blake wrote: > On Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 1:41 PM, Guillermo Polito > <guillermopolito(a)gmail.com> wrote: >> You have to install a browser with refactoring support, such as Nautilus. >> Open the configuration browser and load it from there :). > > I found this on Mariano's web site: > > Gofer it > url: 'http://ss3.gemstone.com/ss/Nautilus'; > package: 'ConfigurationOfNautilus'; > load. > > (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfNautilus) perform: #loadRelease > > And that made the default browser the Nautilus browser.
