we use self flag: #fixMe you can then query either #fixMe or flag: and yes this is a good idea to mark things and create bug entries. [Pharo-project] Suggestion: introducing a fixme/issue/todo pragma

by phil＠highoctane.be

While looking around in the image, I am in need of knowing where I found thngs that either puzzle me or are "wrong" (well, a code smell). What I do is that I put pragmas in there like this (not that this sample is meant to be representative) privCleanTextConstants <fixme> TextConstants TextSharedInformation removeKey: #DefaultTextStyle. TextConstants TextSharedInformation removeKey: #DefaultMultiStyle. TextConstants TextSharedInformation removeKey: #DefaultFixedTextStyle. TextConstants TextSharedInformation removeKey: StrikeFont defaultFontKey. Smalltalk allClasses select: [:c | c sharedPools includes: TextConstants] thenDo: [:c | c compileAll ]. And I can then find back the things with: pc := (PragmaCollector filter: [:prg | prg keyword = 'fixme']) reset. pc collected size. "(Print It: 1)" pc collected explore. And then finding back the Class and Method Name Building upon that, why not do what is done in other environments (well, I've got that in PHP, Java, ...) and use: <todo:do this and that> or plain <todo> <fixme: this and that> or plain <fixme> <issue:issue#> And have a specific tool to help the navigation (explore is fine for a moment but...) This would allow us to have an idea on the technical debt inside the system, broken down by areas if we start leveraging Packages. What I do not know is how much stress this would put on the system. Are pragmas eating a lot or a just markers? Phil

Re: [Pharo-project] System announcements and MC

by Stéphane Ducasse

I di not check (just wake up) but the announcement of system announcement are normally just wrapping the systemChangeNotifier. We will start to work on removing SystemChangeNotifier. So there are probably cases that were not well covered by systemNotifier or some bugs inside. Stef On Apr 22, 2012, at 1:34 AM, Sean P. Re: [Pharo-project] System announcements and MC

by Sean P. DeNigris

Issue created: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=5652 1.4 #14438 When loading a class, I would expect a single ClassAdded announcement. Instead, we get a ClassAdded announcement, and then a ClassModifiedClassDefinition for the class (I think when the category is set), and then a ClassModifiedClassDefinition for the metaclass, but only if there are class-side instance variables. 1. Subscribe for class definition change announcements e.g. "SystemAnnouncer current on: ClassModifiedClassDefinition send: #classModified: to: self new." 2. Subscribe for class added announcements e.g. "SystemAnnouncer current on: ClassModifiedClassDefinition send: #classAdded: to: self new." 3. Load a package with MC that contains a class with a class-side instance variable and an instance-side instance variable You will see that your handler from #1 gets called twice and #2 once. -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/System-announcements-and-MC-tp4577351p4577660.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [Pharo-project] System announcements and MC

by Sean P. DeNigris

Sean P. DeNigris wrote > > I get notifications when MC is loading things Strange... I only get the announcements when class-side instance variables are added via MC... It seems that the reason is that MCClassDefinition>>load creates the class in two steps: 1. MCClassDefinition>>createClass takes care of all the instance side stuff, and correctly notifies of a new class 2. Metaclass>>instanceVariableNames: adds the class-side instance variable names to the class, which now already exists; so the notification is of a changed class definition -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/System-announcements-and-MC-tp4577351p4577658.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

For the arduino versions we have an Arduino UNO, a couple of Arduino Duemilanove with ATmega328, and an Arduino MEGA 2560. We use mostly the first two. Then we also have an Electronic Brick Starter Kit ( http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/electronic-brick-starter-kit-p-506.html) that provides a couple of sensors and a really nice interface to plug/unplug components. And finally, we also have a couple of servos and some dc motors. Keep in mind we only use that to test stuff, we almost never build something useful out of it but it should be enough to let you started. :) Cheers, Richo > > Stef > >> > On Apr 21, 2012, at 12:00 AM, Ricardo Moran wrote: > >> > > Hi everybody (and sorry if you receive multiple copies), > >> > > >> > I would like to announce a new version of Physical Etoys, now with a > lot of new features: > >> > ⢠First of all, it's based on Etoys 5.0 so it incorporates all > the bug-fixes and new features from the Etoys release. > >> > ⢠We are now focusing on the two main hardware platforms: Arduino > and Lego Mindstorms Nxt.
