Great work Igor! One more step towards nicer looking apps developed in Pharo in the near future What features are missing from a full-blown SVG spec? Gradients? Thanks igor. This is good to have updates like that :) Stef > Some progress with SVG importer.. > > Don't be too optimistic, this is pretty simple svg document, which > uses only colors and polygons.. > it will require a more work to implement full SVG spec , but i just > wanna share first results :) > > See that guy here in your browser: > http://croczilla.com/bits_and_pieces/svg/samples/lion/lion.svg > > > -- > Best regards, > Igor Stasenko. > <Screen Shot 2012-04-23 at 5.15.09 PM.png>

Goran (and others) I know that you know but let me repeat it. Our goal is to push as much as we can so that other people that us can make money building software with Pharo. We want to get pharo bring money in the community and that people can make a living with it. I would love to be invited to celebrate the wealth of company having success with Pharo. Now we do not have that much money to pay people for improving the system. May be marcus is ranting because he sees that with a bit of care in the past the base system would not force us to spend a lot of energy improving it and we could focus on the next generation. Because this is what we want to do, invent the future: new compiler, first class instance variable, micro kernel⦠We are getting there but we are fixing a lot while doing that. A lot and more. As a researcher we could just create our own little smalltalk and be happy and life forever. Now improving Pharo is a tedious and ****difficult****, not bold, â¦.. task. Now we welcome people that want to help pushing in that direction and we want to go as fast as we can (because time passes and we are getting old :)). Stef: I'm clean :)

[Pharo-project] [ANN] PharoLauncher for Mac users

by HwaJong Oh

If you are a Mac(Lion) user, who program in Pharo or other Squeak-like Smalltalk (Squeak, Cobalt, Seaside one-click, Croquet, EToy, DrGeo one-click, ...) , there is a better way to manage your images. It is fast to launch an image, easy to manage various VM and image combinations without confusion, safe to delete image files, fast to laucn&quit images to review many images, easy to launch many images simultaneously. You can download it in AppStore: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pharo-launcher/id503025789?mt=12 Demonstration video 1: http://screencast.com/t/jJQD4JjXx Demonstration video 2: http://screencast.com/t/UZIbf3dk7 New version of it is released every one or more weeks. People who are using PharoLauncher(SeungBum Kim, Kuritar, Serge, Laurent) gave me many feedbacks, and some of them are implemented. I hope you enjoy PharoLauncher. Any feedback is appreciated. Some progress with SVG importer.. Don't be too optimistic, this is pretty simple svg document, which uses only colors and polygons.. it will require a more work to implement full SVG spec , but i just wanna share first results :) See that guy here in your browser: http://croczilla.com/bits_and_pieces/svg/samples/lion/lion.svg -- Best regards, Igor Stasenko.

I was just wondering how the Pharo community wants to handle a case where a substantial component (in this case, this new editor) is not *primarily* developed in Pharo (in this case Cuis). Göran, You know that many packages, even some very large ones, are reasonably portable. But I guess portability kind of stops when non-trivial GUI usage is involved. Also, as Pharo is making more and more changes, portability will become harder and harder until it is mostly gone. There are only two solutions: - write your own code to a least common feature set and miss all the new APIs - halt all non-compatible changes in Pharo and stop its evolution Neither are attractive options I guess. already checked, it is: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/ which I think is compatible enough :) Esteban On Apr 23, 2012, at 5:06 PM, Damien Cassou wrote: > On Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 3:28 PM, Esteban Lorenzano <estebanlm(a)gmail.com> wrote: > I just hacked (well, yesterday, I was bored in my room) a new icon set for pharo, based on famfam icons. > > Please first check licenses are compatible > > -- > Damien Cassou > http://damiencassou.seasidehosting.st > > "Lambdas are relegated to relative obscurity until Java makes them popular by not having them."
