[Pharo-project] Pharo Kernel 2.0 Reload by Fuel activated

by Pavel Krivanek

Hi, we were able to activate the job Pharo Kernel 2.0 Reload by Fuel [1] and related tests [2]. In short, this job takes latest Pharo Kernel image and with the only single script [3] it creates working Pharo Core image. It uses code and some data previously exported by a supporting job [4] [5]. The resultant image is not production-ready because Fuel Package Loader currently doesn't work with changes file. The next step that should be quite simple is to do the same with an image without Compiler :-) [1] https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/view/Pharo-Kernel%202.0/job/Pharo%20Kernel%… [2] https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/view/Pharo-Kernel%202.0/job/Pharo%20Kernel%… [3] http://gitorious.org/pharo-build/pharo-build/blobs/master/scripts/pharo/Ker… [4] https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/view/Pharo-Kernel%202.0/job/Pharo%20Kernel%… [5] http://gitorious.org/pharo-build/pharo-build/blobs/master/scripts/pharo/Ker… Cheers, -- Pavel

Re: [Pharo-project] [ANN] Nagare - a new flexible logger for Smalltalk

by Janko Mivšek

Hi Masashi, Quite interesting logging library, thanks! Some questions: - can you log Transcript too? - can logging be done in background process to improve performance, for example for burst of web requests? [Pharo-project] OpenID/Oauth library (was SSO - CAS Client in Smalltalk ?)

I mean not linked to aida or iliad? Idea actually is to have WebCloudSSO library as independent as possible, but not without some web server/web framework, because OpenID/OAuth rely heavily on HTTP redirects. WebCloudSSO library currently works on Aida, now I'll start adapting it to Iliad, later someone can adapt it to Seaside or even to plain web server like Zync. Maybe it will even come under Cloudfork trademark at the end, we will see. Cloudfork otherwise already have a Seaside OpenID example. Hi, I don't believe a site for all smalltalks would be good at all. Reason is that they are very different and generates tons of different answers (increasing our difficulty to keep track of what is happening, who needs help, etc.)... Even related smalltalks like Pharo and Squeak are diverging really fast, and is becoming harder to have same answer applying to both (of course this is not 100% true, and still there are things that fits both words) One exclusive for Pharo, on the other hand, could be a great addition :) best, Esteban On May 15, 2012, at 7:46 AM, Max Leske wrote: > A random thought: how about a stackexchange site for smalltalk? The easiest example to understand this is tools: better tools make us productive, if we are more productive we can just do more. Like making the tools even better. But this is not just tools, it's everything. I think we will really realize what this means soon: that you can do things that are *impossible* else and that will feel truly like magic. (And I think we will see that the idea that you can just do research on top of an unchanged Squeak is completely wrong. With what we will have soon, we can do things on a qualitatively so different level that people will not even be able to compare... and nobody will even believe that we had to fight so hard for the obvious.)
