[Pharo-project] donating money

by Cameron Sanders

I am under the impression that I can donate money to the Pharo group through gforge.inria.fr. Is it possible to donate with a credit card right through their website? If so, can you please share the link to that page? [My tired eyes are not seeing it today and my searches are failing too.] Thanks in advance. -Cam

No brainer. It's small and really helpful. Re browsers... I would definitely include either OB or Nautilus. The default is just too limiting. Nautilus does seem to be in a pretty usable state now, and it'd be helpful for new users not to have to learn two browsers in two releases... [Pharo-project] DefaultCommandLineHandler error

by Sean P. DeNigris

I don't know if this is a bug (seems like it) or an artifact of Jenkins' build process, but... If you download https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/view/Pharo%202.0/job/Pharo-2.0/151/artifact… , when you launch the image, there is "PostMortem: PrimitiveFailed: primitive #primClose: in MultiByteFileStream failed" signaled from the DefaultCommandLineHandler. It seems maybe the argument list has not been reset? It's still trying to evaluate /builds/jenkins/workspace/Pharo-2.0/Pharo-2.0/Pharo-2.0.st Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/DefaultCommandLineHandler-error-tp4634837.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

[Pharo-project] Kickstarter (was Look and font competition)

by Torsten Bergmann

Helene Bilbo wrote >> Design is not a question of 'fonts' and 'tastes'. Better UI ususally has >> some serious research background. Yes - often developers are not the best designers. Either we find a designer that is able to devote his time to Pharo or find some money to pay one. Correct? There are new so called "crowd-sourced funding sites" like kickstarter.com. If "light-table" [1] from Chris Granger was able to get $316,720 (as of today) then Kickstarter may be a platform to get some Pharo funding as well: a) a proposal to fund a better design for Pharo b) a proposal to fund a better future with Pharo Looks like a good video about the projects goals/vision and a short summary may help to convince others to help funding. Anything we can do into this direction? Heretic question: what would it cost to build Pharos vision? Thx T. Re: [Pharo-project] Pharo 2.0 Jenkins build failing

by Sean P. DeNigris

The build is now green! The last successful build is update #20132. Thank you Steph, Esteban, and Marcus :) In the future, if anyone wants to update 2.0 headlessly past #20119, you will need to wrap the update code in an error handler like the following (headful updating will work out of the box without this): [ UpdateStreamer new beSilent; updateFromServer ] on: MessageNotUnderstood do: [ :e | (e message selector = #label: and: [ e receiver isKindOf: BlockClosure]) ifTrue: [ e resume ] ] Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Pharo-2-0-Jenkins-build-failing-tp4634306p4634823.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Dear Smalltalkers, We would like to inform you that we will extend the deadline for IWST 2012 submission to Monday, June 25th. We have received several requests asking for a delay concerning the submission deadline. Please can you disseminate this information and use the CFP to invite some of your colleagues/students/partners to submit papers. Your support is essential to make IWST 2012 a success. Please find attached to this message the CFP (with deadline extension), so as you can disseminate the CFP through your own mailing lists. We also hope you will be able to submit some of your contributions.
