I love this community. Pavel founds the problem. Sean debugs it and founds the real cause. Thank you guys, you cover our back when I don't have much time :) So...as a workaround, since the literals of a CM are visited as any other object, it is not really needed to have a test with WideStrings in the source code. So I have just have: testWideString self assertSerializationEqualityOf: 'aString' asWideString. self assertSerializationEqualityOf: (WideString streamContents: [ :stream | 2000 timesRepeat: [ stream nextPut: (256 to: 1000) atRandom asCharacter ] ] ). and that should work :) > The write logic is in ZipArchiveMember>>copyDataWithCRCTo: > ... > data := self readRawChunk: (4096 min: readDataRemaining). > aStream nextPutAll: data. > ... > > When #readRawChunk: returns a WideString, all hell breaks loose. I think that should work pretty fine. Since the current goal is to integrate it closely into the system, the major issue is to adapt everything else :) On 2012-06-25, at 19:34, Sean P. [Pharo-project] FileSystem outside of Pharo 2.0

by Sean P. DeNigris

I'm thinking about making a Metacello configuration for FileSystem, so I can continually load its improvements in 1.4 and have still have repeatable load scripts. Given our plans for FileSystem, does that seem like a workable idea? Also, it seems like it is pretty independent, does it currently depend on anything else in the image? Will it anytime soon? Thanks, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/FileSystem-outside-of-Pharo-2-0-tp4636579.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [Pharo-project] LanguageEnvironment>>#setUsePangoFlag

by Stéphane Ducasse

indeed in 1.4 it was initialize "LanguageEnvironment initialize" Smalltalk addToStartUpList: LanguageEnvironment after: FileDirectory. Smalltalk addToStartUpList: FileDirectory after: LanguageEnvironment. :) so this means that the initialize method is not invoked since some years⦠:) Probably that the language environment needs to be after FileDirectory because it should load some files.
