[Pharo-project] MongoTalk public API changes

by Francois Stephany

I've commited some changes to MongoTalk that change the public interface and the behavior of the driver. The queries are now made with a MongoQuery object. This simplifies the interaction between Mongo, MongoDatabase and MongoCollection. I've added support for ordering, limit and offset. There's a lot more to do ut time is scarce. I've created a public trello board for the project (sorry Esteban :p): https://trello.com/board/mongotalk-voyagemongo/50992a46900347431c00c64a Right now, Voyage is broken with the latest MongoTalk version. You should be safe if you use the MetacelloConfiguration. Let me know if you're using the MongoTalk driver and you need something or if I'm breaking all your code. Thanks, Francois

[Pharo-project] unpacking cairo.tgz fails during VM build

by Ciprian Teodorov

Hi guys, While trying to compile the NBCog vm on my MacOS machine I have found a strange issue... I do not know if it comes from my machine configuration or if it is more general than that... Mainly after loading the cairo package the compilation process fails to unpack the cairo.tgz archive... It seems that the extension of the package changes (the downloaded package has a .tar.xz extension, which gets dropped and replaced by .tgz) and my "tar" install can't cope with that.... I have fixed it temporarily as shown bellow: CMCairo>>unpack "..." gen set: #unpackTarget toString: '${libSourcesDir}/touch.cmake'. gen puts: 'add_custom_command(OUTPUT "${unpackTarget}" COMMAND tar -Jxf "${libName}.tgz" COMMAND touch "${unpackTarget}" COMMENT "Unpacking ${libName} ... " ) '. by CMCairo>>unpack "..." gen set: #unpackTarget toString: '${libSourcesDir}/touch.cmake'. gen puts: 'add_custom_command(OUTPUT "${unpackTarget}" COMMAND cp "${libName}.tgz" "${libName}.tar.xz" COMMAND unxz "${libName}.tar.xz" COMMAND tar xf "${libName}.tar" COMMAND touch "${unpackTarget}" COMMENT "Unpacking ${libName} ... " ) '. Is this a known issue, or my "tar" install is wrong? Re: [Pharo-project] Git API for Pharo

by roberto.minelli＠usi.ch

Hi Max, At the end of the day I managed to install and use FileSystem-Git. I was not able to run the quick start guide in the help browser, but i managed to run the ** Working with repositories ** guide. However, I encountered a weird error. Here are the steps to reproduce: 1. Clone an existing Git repo (git clone https://github.com/aptana/studio3.git) 2. Execute the following snippet: repoReference := FileSystem disk root resolve: '/Users/roby/Documents/University/repository'. repo := FileSystemGitRepository on: repoReference. The error is the following: Error: Invalid utf8 input detected I investigated and discovered that this is somehow related to how the 'git clone' creates the repository. In fact, if you create a Git repo on your machine the above lines of code works just fine. FYI I'm running Pharo 2.0 on a 64-bit MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.8.2). Do you have any suggestion for that? Anyone experienced this problem? Old workaround is to create symlink from /dev/ttyUSB0 to /dev/ttySx and open the port by number (x), not by the name. Hi Friedrich, I did not test myself but I will soon. Since the Jenkins is down, you can found the latest VM (with the SerialPlugin modifications that Esteban did) in my dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/flx2cc8mjszhckg/uZ8sTxSB1k Luc #Luc 2012/11/7 Esteban Lorenzano <estebanlm(a)gmail.com> > we fixed that with Luc in the sprint last friday :) > > problem was: > > 1) for linux, primitive openByName: was never implemented. > 2) for OSX, all the plugin was never implemented, there was just a stub. > > So well, we implemented all of that, now... you need the latest VM build. > but I'm afraid right now jenkins is experimenting some problems and not > online. we fixed that with Luc in the sprint last friday :) problem was: 1) for linux, primitive openByName: was never implemented. 2) for OSX, all the plugin was never implemented, there was just a stub. So well, we implemented all of that, now... you need the latest VM build. but I'm afraid right now jenkins is experimenting some problems and not online. Just wait a few hours and you will be able to download it :) Esteban On Nov 7, 2012, at 3:54 PM, Friedrich Dominicus <frido(a)q-software-solutions.de> wrote: > I'm stuck. [Pharo-project] Opening a serial Port with Pharo on Linux

by Friedrich Dominicus

I'm stuck. I try to open a serial Port on Linux using Pharo. The code is as simple as: port := SerialPort new. portName := '/dev/ttyUSB0'. port openPort: portName. Now this opening fails for "whatever" reason. Anyway in the console I got the following "messages": PluggableTextMorph>>handleEdit: in Block: [result := editBlock value] Error while opening the serial port (/dev/ttyUSB0#4 ). Error: Cannot open '/dev/ttyUSB0' It seems after the USB0 there is not the "end" of the string but some gibberish. I tried to extract the code for the SerialPlugin and use it stand-alone in C andwrote the following: #include <stdio.h> #include "SerialPlugin.h" int main(void) { char *portName = "/dev/ttyUSB0"; int baudRate = 9600; int stopBitsType = 1; int parityType = 0; int dataBits = 8; int inFlowControlType = 0; int outFlowControlType = 0; int xOnByte = 19; int xOffByte = 24; int iRval; iRval = serialPortOpenByName (portName, baudRate, stopBitsType, parityType, dataBits, inFlowControlType, outFlowControlType, xOnByte, xOffByte); iRval = serialPortCloseByName (portName); return 0; } And there is no error while using it this way in C. So what is broken? Regards Friedrich
