There was a small lighthouse (pharo?) in the bottom right corner of the PDF, removing it would save some extra space. However I don't see anybody using the SVG file, so being 250kB or 1MB is almost the same. Regards!

I guess that Igor had file size in mind :-) The original result of the conversion was twice as big so it's not so bad ;-) It is quite complicated shape with a lot of gradients (most of shapes have own gradient and do not share one even in case they could) Inkscape can save it as 213 kB big SVG file after cleaning of some definitions. -- Pavel On Fri, Dec 28, 2012 at 2:04 PM, Esteban A. There's always a point to pixel conversion ratio than can cause that, i.e. the file might be in 300 DPI, and converting that to pixels will certainly make it look bigger on an average screen. But if it's vectorial (SVG, EPS, AI, etc) it doesn't matter its screen size, it can be scaled down or up with almost no glitches at all. Regards!

Hi, I was unhappy that we do not have got SVG version of the logo and import from PDF is not perfect so I tried to fix the result of the conversion to usable form. Please place this file somewhere... :-) Cheers, -- Pavel On Thu, Dec 27, 2012 at 7:20 PM, Esteban A. Re: [Pharo-project] Is there a simple example of how to create a GUI form in Pharo or Squeak?

by dimitris chloupis

This is exactly the kind of stuff that has brought me to smalltalk. Visual coding in all its glory. Thanks for sharing this. ________________________________ From: Chris Muller <asqueaker(a)gmail.com> To: Pharo-project(a)lists.gforge.inria.fr Sent: Friday, 28 December 2012, 1:52 Subject: Re: [Pharo-project] Is there a simple example of how to create a GUI form in Pharo or Squeak? Indeed, you could use OSProcess command: 'your-script.sh arg1 arg2', but there may be some added complexity if you need to block and/or extract output. > Creating the form is the part I don't know how to accomplish. > > I have done some searching and there seems to be a surprising dearth of info > on how to create a simple GUI from scratch using Pharo or Squeak. Since you said Squeak too I'll just mention: If you would first create a class to encapsulate the functionality you want: say, "FranksDualQuery" that would have an instvar 'input' (with getter/setter accessors), along with two additional methods for your db-query and shell-script (which each consume the 'input'), then you could use Maui to create your form in about 30 seconds. Maui can be installed straight from the SqueakMap catalog. Then execute:  FranksDualQuery new maui and a blank form panel appears. Just drag the #input getter from the code-browser into this blank form panel. Then select "tools | be a getter/setter" so its "text-area" will be editable. Then drag the other two messages to the panel to complete the form. Done. I love naked-objects because it integrates "development" and "consumption" in a way that has helped me understand and appreciate Smalltalk as a live computing environment and not just an app-studio. Here's a video overview in case you're interested.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUdu8ImXJwU > -- > Frank Church > > ======================= > http://devblog.brahmancreations.com

[Pharo-project] [Issue Tracker] Status and 2.0 Beta

by Marcus Denker

Hi, I did a pass over the bug tracker -> I started to check all issues tagged 2.0 and removed the tag for those that are clearly no show stoppers (this needs to be continued, we are now at 88 issues tagged for 2.0) -> I went through all issues that have not seen any activity in 2012. Those I either tagged for 3.0 (in the cases that it was obvious that the issue was relevant). Some I closed with the note to the issue submitter to check the issue in 2.0 (and to send a mail to the list in cases where man power is needed). We now have overall 377 open issues, all of those have seen some kind of activity in 2012: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/list?can=2 There are 88 tagged for 2.0: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/list?can=2&q=milestone%3D2.0 and 21 tagged for 1.4: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/list?can=2&q=milestone%3D1.4 8 issues are fixed and just need to be reviewed: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/list?can=2&q=status%3DFixReviewNeeded Help for the tracker is always welcome! The only way to keep a bug tracker useful is to look at the issues regularly and fix the issues one by one⦠Marcus
