"Another point is, should we not allow for arbitrary objects to be logged," The core framework should not be doing this, allow extension for anyone interested to do so at their risk and understanding. I will first attempt to get Toothpick to basic expectations, to then take up additional extensions. Hi Clara, > I'm interested to get in as a student to play with the debugger ^^ > Nice I wrote the second proposal ( http://gsoc2013.esug.org/projects/inspecting-expressions) without knowing there was already a proposal for improving the debugger ( http://gsoc2013.esug.org/projects/debugger-improvements) The main one should be the second one. Well it mostly depends on the parser. But the behavior you describe is pretty common in other languages. To be precise, you actually have invalid code, but you are on the way to make it valid. For me a solution would be a timer/delay when the syntax coloring hits in. So while you are typing it stays black, but after some 200ms pause it will give you feedback (also when you press any of: ' ,;:[]|(){}").
