[GSoC ideas] Pharo - Derreferencer

by Alexandre Bergel

Hi Paolo, I can mentor the project below: > Project idea > > Name: Instance Derreferencer for Pharo > Skill level: Intermediate > Possible Mentors: > Name of the Student: Alejandro Infante > > Description: > A problem with image based environment is, when you detect a memory leak is removing those objects from the system. This tool would provide a handy UI to inspect the current instances of the classes that we think they have a memory leak and, in case there are objects that are not being garbage collected, offer to the user a Derreference button. This is going to iterate over all the objects that have a reference to my object and remove that reference, finally enabling the Garbage Collector to get rid of the leak. Hi Guido, You can try "Faster than Light". This is a pool connection to open multiple sockets. The project is on Smalltalkhub ( http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~RMoD/FasterThanLight) It works with Pharo 2.0, not tested with 3.0 Olivier ;-) 2014-02-13 15:20 GMT+01:00 <btc(a)openinworld.com>: > Guido Chari wrote: > >> >> Hi guys, >> >> I´m doing some experiments with dynamic primitives and files. >> Actually i am working with the socket and file plugin. Re: [Pharo-dev] Bugfix to '/foo:bar' asUrl

by Johan Brichau

Hey Sven, I'm catching up on some reading on the topic [1]. It starts making sense to me :-) So, it does seem that both WAUrl and ZnUrl treat the '+' incorrectly (as you mentioned), leading to this: (ZnUrl fromString: (ZnUrl fromString: 'http://localhost/?param=foo%2Bbar') printString) printString = 'http://localhost/?param=foo%20bar'. (WAUrl decodePercent: (ZnUrl fromString: 'http://localhost/?param=foo%2Bbar') printString) printString = 'http://localhost/?param=foo bar' [1] http://blog.lunatech.com/2009/02/03/what-every-web-developer-must-know-abou… I learned something new today ;-) Johan On 14 Feb 2014, at 16:47, Johan Brichau <johan(a)inceptive.be> wrote: > > On 14 Feb 2014, at 12:11, Sven Van Caekenberghe <sven(a)stfx.eu> wrote: > >> $+ is handled in any usage of ZnPercentEncoder, independent of context and safeSet. WAUrl does exactly the same: it always replaces a $+ with a space. If what you say regarding $+ being a safe character (I'm not the expert), then it's part of the problem because a WAUrl instance is constructed from a ZnUrl printString. If a ZnUrl prints a $+ where it originally was constructed from a %2B, then it will still fail. > > I might we wrong, but I keep having the impression it's the (non-)encoding of a $+ that is wrong (rather than the decoding of $+ to space). > If you create a url as follows: > (ZnUrl fromString: 'http://localhost:8080/foo%20%2B%20bar') > The internal pathSegments variable of the ZnUrl instance contains a (I think correctly) decoded string 'foo + bar'. > When this url is printed (more exactly in #printPath:), it prints it as 'foo%20+%20bar', which is strange for me. > > But, as I said, I am not the expert. Adapting CMakeVMMaker to build BochsIA32Plugin

by Stefan Marr

Hi: I am slowly getting acquainted with CMake and the CMakeVMMaker infrastructure. In order to build the BochsIA32Plugin for the Cog simulator, I need to pass a number of build flags. Would be great if someone could tell me how to realize the following things: 1. remove -std=gnu99 for only this plugin BochsIA32Plugin is written in C++ and Clang doesnât support the `-std=gnu99` switch in that case. 2. add header include paths The plugin needs the following two includes to access Bochsâ headers: -I${root}/processors/IA32/bochs/ -I${root}/processors/IA32/bochs/instrument/stubs/ 3. the final binary needs the following linker flags -lcpu -ldisasm -lfpu -L${root}/processors/IA32/macbochs/disasm/ -L${root}/processors/IA32/macbochs/cpu/ -L${root}/processors/IA32/macbochs/fpu/ In addition to that I would also need to add a script to build the bochs library before linking the binary. Any hints how to do that are very appreciate. Thanks Stefan -- Stefan Marr INRIA Lille - Nord Europe http://stefan-marr.de/research/
