Wow, I can't believe one of the more engaged developers who is current didn't engage on this (I am not actively working on Squeak or derivations due to financial commitments but I lurk with interest and wait for my next opportunity to engage). Sebastien, thanks for taking the interest. Smalltalk (and Squeak in particular) has long struggled with licensing issues. The system is completely open so it seems relatively pointless to encumber it with something like GPL. For your historical interest, the community's position on licensing (which is a little out of date as Pharo is going MIT style I think) is found at http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/159. If you use a closure image you must use a VM with closure an latest FFI (from MC). But, you can also use Squeak in older version (non closure) with FFI from Universes. The last test you can do (just to see if it works) is this: Go t class OpenDBXUnix and change the methods apiBind: handle database: databaseName name: userName password: password method: method and apiInitialize: handle backend: backend host: host port: port In both, put module: 'libopendbx.so.1' or module: 'libopendbx.so' instead of module: 'opendbx' I hope you get it working. Thanks Alexandre. So to get my MC-ftp connection working (to save code changes in my image), I simply masked the problem. I altered NetNameResolver class >> useOldNetwork to simply return true. The preparation of the class variable UseOldNetwork looks like the following in the method NetNameResolver class>>initializeNetwork ...
