Personally I think that the people here involved in the education & university domains need to write actual paper based letters on their institution's letter head and mail them to the Apple education reps for their countries stating their concern about Apple's legal agreements that appear to lockout the iPad for extraordinary use in the computer science curriculum. This involves passionately arguing for the ability to program, or teach in something other than C, C++, Obj-C or Javascript, I"m sure others are more capable than me in composing that, as a software engineer my words aren't worth much, but I think computer science departments should be voicing their concern on the direction where things appear to be going. -- =========================================================================== John M. Novell says: "we have heard little direct feedback from Apple" Ya, been there... Right now C, C++, Obj-C, Javascript are the only allowable languages to code in. [Pharo-project] New company selling Smalltalk products

Hi, SÃ©bastien Audier and I recently started a company named ObjectFusion selling Smalltalk web applications, using Iliad web framework. Our first product, Odyssey CMS, is a web content managment system. The system is available in english and french. It is designed to be extensible, flexible and easy to use. Instead of using a formatting syntax or a WYSIWYG text editor, our CMS is using inline editing, inspired by CMSBox. Every part of the page can be arranged and edited in place, and is automatically adapted to the design of the website. Odyssey also features mutliple undo/redo for all actions on a page. Any mistake can be cancelled at any time. When editing a page, it is also possible to copy/cut/paste any part. We offer several plans & pricing with commercial hosting. Now we'll end up with a new protocol anyways - I don't expect Pharo to change (too much pride involved) This is not a question of pride. do not imply that we do not have serious users that would like to avoid move :) do not imply that we do actions based on pride, this was not the case. Since the old protocol was wrong people preferred to see it fixed - at that time it was not clear that compatibility with squeak could make sense. The deprecation only works if you add a different name. And this was not what we wanted at that time. I contacted damien to see what he is thinking and if there is something we could do. Because we may introduce request:onCancel: and rewrite the old senders. Stef
