Lucas - I can't repeat this in a Pharo 1.1 image - so maybe we should put it down to some oCompletion/eCompletion bad interaction (or unload weirdness). Actually correction on #1 - eCompletion suffers from that one as well - I'm sure they should both be able to surround a selection with characters no matter which side of the selection you are on. If the eCompletion tweaks look good from Lucas' point of view - they also apply to oCompletion as well - however I noticed that there seem to be a few additional bugs in oCompletion (at least compared to eCompletion). 1) If you hilite an expresion and press ) - in eCompletion it surrounds that selection with the matching characters, OC doesn't seem to 2) If you type [ - you get [], but then when you press backspace it removes the [] as well as an additional character before the [ - which is not ideal (again eCompletion doesn't do that) Should I log a bug for these? Am I missing something here - in a fresh 1.1 one click image if I do: ConfigurationOfOCompletion project latestVersion load I get an endless stream of errors: The method Boolean and:and: has been deprecated. use and: Select Proceed to continue, or close this window to cancel the operation.??????? [Pharo-project] Extract method dialog is too small to see what your typing

First the Copy On Write only makes a copy of the original page if the page is going to be written to. Now *usually* 99% of the write activity is in young/new space which starts with zero bytes of memory after the Full GC is triggered. So as the saving task is writing out say the 0-100MB of memory, the running VM is busy allocating and writing to objects at 100+MB so there will be no effect on pages 0-100MB. Of course there are some updates into the 0-100MB area but that is rare as compared to write activity in new space. So if the process doing the write runs at a lower priority it shouldn't have an impact on the process running the VM. The danger is that a full GC should occur which would cause a compaction, but a server image should not be doing full GC more than a few times per hour.... Many things come to mind, one is to use some of the old text to voice features of squeak and have the computer yell at you when it's ready... That should work on all platforms that support sound. More subtle and complex would be to use Alien/FFI and talk to the operating system's notification/alert API.
