ok here is my take on it: - I would like to have a mini kernel where date time is just good enough for what the system needs - then people load the framework they want and yes I love aconcagua and chalten but there is also chronos so you see I would prefer that people pick the one they like. did you try with nile? because I forgot (of course doing too many things) but the difference between squeak and VW was that we could not have a stream on something else than string and array. Now this may have changed in squeak with the work of levente or nicolas. [Pharo-project] Why is readStream on SequenceableCollection and not on Collection?

Dear list, is there a specific reason readStream is defined on SequenceableCollection and not on Collection? I want to for instance stream over a Set (in a non determined order). I tried to do readStream on a Set, but got an error that copyFrom:to: was not defined on Set; so: ReadStream>>on: aCollection I think should read: ReadStream>>on: aSequenceableCollection Or should I always use: collect: select: detect: protocols? I'm looking that Duration also lacks methods to get the total hours and minutes the duration represents (Which is the behavior you expected, didn't you?). Something like (Duration seconds: 3600) totalMinutes = 60 (Duration seconds: 3600) totalSeconds = 3600 But, what about something like (Duration seconds: 3601) totalMinutes = (3601/60) ?? Mariano, Try an absolute path, I have had similar problems. BTW, starting a VM as user X accessing a startup file belonging to user Y doesn't seem to work either (even if Unix permissions would allow it). [Pharo-project] 'file:spaceTally.st' asUrl retrieveContents should work?

Hi...I was running a pharo headless in Mac OS running something like this: ./Pharo/VM/Squeak\ 4.2.5beta1U.app/Contents/MacOS/Squeak\ VM\ Opt -headless Pharo/imagenes/Pharo-1.1-11411dev10.07.1/Pharo-1.1-11411dev10.07.1.image spaceTally.st And I come to the problem that there is an error while trying to process spaceTally.st. This file is a text file that just contains "SpaceTally new printSpaceAnalysis" Now....to conclude, the problem is that according to the wonderful and nice CodeLoader (I really hate this class...I promise I will do something with it) this: 'file:spaceTally.st' asUrl retrieveContents should answer me the contents ("SpaceTally new printSpaceAnalysis") ...but instead nil is returned. The file exist. Is this wrong? is it expected? how can I fix it ? Thanks!! Mariano
