Hi! I am please to announce that Mondrian now includes an help and tutorial. These are accessible from the Easel menu and the World menu (help item). You can load Mondrian with: Gofer new squeaksource: 'Mondrian'; package: 'ConfigurationOfMondrian'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfMondrian) perform: #loadDefault. I would be please to hear feedback on them. The PharoByExampleV2 chapter on Mondrian will be based on the tutorial. I am currently working on a Tutorial->Latex importer. What I did in the plane on the way back form esug. 582: No leaf class is abstract. Move down some methods from MOShape to MONodeShape 581: Help and tutorial finished. [Pharo-project] Webpage for research paper about Pharo?

Hi! I would like to create a webpage that lists papers about Pharo. There were some announcements on smalltalk-research(a)googlegroups.com, but it is not really useful for me to keep track of what's going on. Maybe a page accessible from http://www.pharo-project.org/about/success-stories or http://www.pharo-project.org/about/ will be good. If the community agrees on this, I am willing to lead this effort. Hi! I am writing a help for Mondrian. I am reading "help on help": -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= WELCOME TO THE HELP SYSTEM The help system is a simple user interface to display help contents to the user. It can be accessed from the world menu using "Tools" -> "Help Browser" or by evaluating 'HelpBrowser open' in a workspace. There is a predefined mechanism allowing you to have help contents stored as source code using methods in specific help provider classes. This allows to manage the help texts using the standard development tools. But this is only one possible representation. Yes, this is a good solution. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Maybe the last line can be deleted. Even better, replaced by the email of the author. Now what bothers me more is that the character classification in Pharo is dead slow. Now a couple of questions: 1) Is this normal/expected? In my calculus both arrays are like 3mb of memory 2) If I don't use UTF and I send an encoding as parameter in the VM (different from UTF), do I need this class side variables? Hi, iâm one of the â hobbyist â end users.. All i read about Morphic is really thrilling, and all i miss is documentation. Expecially on the subject of what design principles Morphic was designed in mind with. All i could find about Morphic was the - one chapter in the Pharo/Squeak by Example book, - the original Self documentation - and a thesis on the subject of âNaked Objectsâ which talks a bit about the ideas that might have been behind Morphic. The little bit of Morphic i could understand seems really interesting and i would really love someone could explain the ideas (it seems it had a different design principle in mind than the MVC paradigm?) of Morphic in Pharo/Squeak more thoroughly to âend usersâ.
