by Evelyn Cusi Lopez

Hello everyone, Last week I did these tasks: - Migrate Add accessors with lazy initialization refactoring. Check these changes in the: PR #9723 <https://github.com/pharo-project/pharo/pull/9723> - Migrate Deprecate method refactoring. Check these changes in the: PR #9724 <https://github.com/pharo-project/pharo/pull/9724> - Continue migrating Find and replace refactoring and extract method and occurrences (still in progress, it's a difficult task) - I started adding a system configuration to be able to change the use of classes between RB1 and RB2 (for commands) Best regards, Evelyn Cusi Lopez

Re: Luancher - Stable Pharo 9-based Release?

by sean＠clipperadams.com

Not on M1. I think the bug is hidden from most users because Pharo templates typically only have a few files and Launcher donât reach the OS limit. However, with custom templates with directories full of files, itâs easy to hit. IIUC the bug was fixed in P9, hence my interest in a P9-based Launcher - also generally I find it beneficial to have Launcher run on the latest release e.g. so I can update all my projects at once, including my Launcher extensions.

Updates from the trenches...

by stephane ducasse

Hello community Just a little mail from holidays to let you know that from September on we will try a new organisation. Pharo 9 (with Covid and amount of work) was stressful for us. Seriously we deliver more than expected so we did several meta meetings (and we will continue) to understand how we can work with less stress. In particular we want to be able to give better feedback to the community while being able to deliver the large items we have on our plate. In a nutshell every month we will have - a full working day around - design ideas such as https://github.com/pharo-project/pharo/wiki/01-PhIP-Simplify-Pragma-Storage - new tools such as MethodProxies to look at our lovely system in different ways https://github.com/pharo-contributions/MethodProxies - code review - a full internal bug/issue internal sprint we want to be able to concentrate on issues that require concentration and we want to make sure that we can provide feedback and integrate PRs that need brain. - our monthly open sprint (we hope that Covid 4th wave will not break our fun once again). Re: Commander2 Design Question

by stephane ducasse

I will not comment on why we did commander 2: We had an empedance design mismatch. Now the design of CMD2 is focusing on instances and it is more dynamic. For the book it is where I said it was: https://books.pharo.org/booklet-Commander/ <https://books.pharo.org/booklet-Commander/> Check the last chapter because it explained the design. S

Commander2 Design Question

by sean＠clipperadams.com

Could someone explain the design difference/rationale of Commander2 vs. the original and is there any doc for v.2?
