There is also work to do for the actual releasing, which the VM Release Manager person would have to do (e.g., zip and post to squeakvm.org, etc.), so I wanted to see whether that was doable for them too. When Eliot provides a new (or, recommends an old) version of the Cog VM to release with 4.2, we can perform final tests using that VM for the three platforms. Last year (and IIRC before last year as well) we exchanged a set of clever stubs of code which created a collection of classes had not comments. Could we have one of these scripts run as a part of the process in Hudson for validations/QA of the core images (for starting the whole thing) and a statistic which would allow us to track our progress in the percentage of commented classes in core? -- Cesar Rabak

The point of having the source code versioned is to track *every* change to it. that includes, accents, spaces, newlines, and of course, source code. I don't know why the underscores should be treated differently. It *is* a change in the code. And it is good to have the source code management system to trackit. Even if no other change more semantic was made. So I vote also for the rules for the refactoring browser and the lint rules to search for underscores in the core image.

[Pharo-project] editing a method outside the image?

one problem i having (in a long line).. is that my DateAndTime class >> now looks like this: now ^ self basicNew ticks: (Duration days: SqueakEpoch hours: 0 minutes: 0 seconds: self totalSeconds nanoSeconds: MillisecondClockOffset milliSeconds * NanosInMillisecond) ticks offset: self localOffset; yourself the problem is, milliseconds is not defined anywhere.. this is there as a remnant of sheduler.. i need to replace it with the REAL one: now ^ self basicNew ticks: (Array with: SqueakEpoch with: Time totalSeconds with: 0) offset: self localTimeZone offset the problem is that when i try to update "now", i keep getting the error for that it can't find "milliSeconds".. when i delete "now" and try to paste the correct one in.. i error out, too.. i think the snake is eating its tail.. can i replace the "now" method somehow with the image not running? thanks! -- ---- peace, sergio photographer, journalist, visionary http://www.CodingForHire.com http://www.coffee-black.com http://www.painlessfrugality.com http://www.twitter.com/sergio_101 http://www.facebook.com/sergio101

But what is the problem with the timestamps? I consider not changing the timestamps to be a feature because there is no semantic change in the code.

Instead I would update the webpage with the RB code to do the same. You can get it from http://code.google.com/p/pharo/wiki/CodeSnippets (title How to fix underscore assigment with RB ?) again, I think FixUnderscore should not be part of a PharoCore image (I even remember remoiving it). I don't have an image handy now...are you sure it is present in pharo 1.2 ?
