From the discussions on discord and here I get the impression that we're not at all aligned on what is actually expected, needed and provided. Without the scenarios that need to be supported, there is no way to decide on how to simplify the UI. From the discussions I get that some integration with Metacello (and/or Cargo) will be needed too. I would like to avoid the problems we earlier had with Komitter. Can we discuss the scenario's (through personas) here first? Cheers, Stephan

Hi, There are recurrent reports that Pharo is crashing often. However, at the moment I believe the reasons are not clarified. So, this mail is not about fixing the issues, but first about clarifying what they are. Namely: - I know about the typing problem on MacOS (Sierra or High Sierra). I encounter this problem daily (literally), and I know that I am not the only one. For example, this can occur when I type âclasssâ fast and then delete the last character. It is documented here: https://github.com/OpenSmalltalk/opensmalltalk-vm/issues/141 - Some people talk about the FreeType problem, but I could not find a place where this is described. So, while this might be a problem, I am not sure that this problem is actually causing crashes. In your description, you checked that you have the latest version of Bloc on the local disk. GToolkit-Examples is in another repository: pharo-local/iceberg/feenkcom/gtoolkit-examples. The simplest way to ensure that you do get the latest versions is to delete the whole pharo-local/iceberg folder and then try re-loading the code in a fresh image.
