object pinning versus garbage collection

How does object pinning interact with garbage collection? Does it block garbage collection until it is manually unpinned? Or does it garbage collection proceed anyway? Intuitively I'd guess the former?? cheers -ben

RFC pinning Spotter

A few times recently I've used Spotter to drill down to a list of say 10 interesting classes I want to explore a bit. To open a Browser on one of the, Spotter closes and to look at the next interesting class I have to repeat the steps in Spotter to get down to the same list of 10. It would (maybe) be nice if I could "pin" Spotter so that it remains open at that list of 10. It would appear in the task bar where it could be selected after other windows open on top. I haven't thought it through more that that. Just thought I'd share the idea and use case. cheers -ben

I've seen this happen once - the first slice I submitted for issue 18990 (https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/18990/Text-missing-includesSubstring-and-…) had the same problem. >From memory, the second time I saved the method the source was saved correctly, suggesting that it isn't a corrupted change file issue. Problem with accentuated characters

I am a bit puzzled by Pharo's (Pharo 5) behavior when having accentuated characters inside a string. I have a method that sends cascaded messages and it automatically gets "reformated" with a temp variable. Hi eliot I asked mariano to improve ImageSegment for his PhD and he convinced me that there are better things to do: Marea and Fuel and Ghost.
