No, this is not a good idea (silent conversions). It is one of the original differences between Pharo and Squeak. Try searching the MLs, I am sure it is all still there. String concatenation using comma ","

Hi I'm just curious why "," doesn't convert object to string during concatenation? For example I expect > 'answer is ', 42 to return 'answer is 42' instead of 'SmallInteger are not indexable'. wait, wait, I knew there was a catch :D This refers to creating your own app with XCODE and installing it to your OWN iOS device. App store still remains the easy way of distributing apps and I doubt that will accept Pharo as it is . They still won't approve apps that install new code at runtime, though. So any IDE that used Monticello, for example, would have to be distributed ad-hoc rather than through the Apple Store.
