Hello, every one of these âreificationsâ are defined as a subclass of RFReification There is one subclass for every symbol (e.g. for #arguments, there is RFArgumentsReification). The class side method #key defines the exact symbol, while #nodes returns the AST node classes where this reification is available. I will make a full table soon that lists everything. Guys may be you do not understand or I'm too stupid. My point is what are the preconditions (tools loaded in the system) that DummyUIManager should have. I thought that DummyUIManager (which should not be morphic else I do not understand what is MorphicUIManager) was for a system without a Morphic UI. So how it is possible that a system without UI could report error using a UI tool? Hi Stef, Transcript in Smalltalk-80 systems and in Squeak and earlier Pharo versions is a variable. So when the system is running headless or on the command line Transcript can be assigned something that writes to stdout (eg an instance of NonInteractiveTranscript). This is nice and simple. So in Pharo5 I removed the hack in the parser. -> Parser parses, it knows nothing about semantics -> Semantic analysis looks at variables and decides what they mean. The #binding is set by the semantic analysis. (and, as it was nice, actually specialises the classes of variables) Right now you have to call #doSemanticAnalysis on the MethodNode. I am planning to add some lazy init so this is done automaticaly when accessing #binding of a variableâ¦ Marcus

Question on AST

Hello, I'm working on code manipulation on Pharo using the AST. Recently, I ported my code to Pharo 5 and some of my tests are not running anymore. Specifically, if I have a method as follows: method | variable | variable := 'String'. In Pharo 4, when I get the tree, I have a RBTemporaryNode representing the declaration of the variable, and a RBVariableNode for the assignment at the third line. In Pharo 5, I have two RBVariableNode's for both cases. And when I call #isTemp I get a MNU because the return of #binding is nil. How can I now differentiate these two nodes in the example? SHRBTextStyler and workspace/playground variables

Hi, Currently SHRBTextStyler does not highlight variables in the playground. This could be added by extending SHRBTextStyler >>#resolveStyleFor: with workspace ifNotNil: [(workspace hasBindingOf: aVariableNode name) ifTrue: [^ #workspaceVar]]. Still this could cause some problems given how MorphicTextAdapter integrates Rubric. MorphicTextAdapter>>setEditingModeFor:withBehavior: can translate #beForCode from Spec to #beForSmalltalkScripting in Rubric. However for #beForSmalltalkScripting to work the model has to provide methods for managing bindings which MorphicTextAdapter does not. A space used to be accepted between minus sign and number in old versions of Squeak compiler (before 2010) But I doubt this was decided on purpose. IMO it was more a side effect of the implementation, which had messy corners (the fact that the tokenizer did produce two tokens $- and positive number) I would add that this was undocumented, dialect specific, and a false good idea letting newbies think that they can use unary prefixed operators... There is no such thing in the language. ARM Simulator whitewash...

Hi All, anyone with C chops looking for a challenge? The ARM code generator in Cog is in a good state and we're supporting Squeak 5.0 Cog on ARM and building Newspeak Cog VMs for ARM. But the same can't be said of the simulator, with which we develop the code generator. Tim Rowledge recently added support for floating point support for the ARM code generator, which is great for floating point performance, but alas the simulator can't simulate the generated vfp (virtual floating point) instructions. The simulator is derived from Gdb's ARM support, see http://www.squeakvm.org/svn/squeak/branches/Cog/processors/ARM/README http://www.squeakvm.org/svn/squeak/branches/Cog/processors/ARM/gdb-7.6 Is anyone interested in fixing the ARM simulator so that it does correctly simulate vfp instructions?
