Hi Sheridan, It seems that you found a bug or at least a limitation: CaseInsensitiveOrder inside String does not seem to be initialised for non-ASCII. 'Ã©Ã¨Ã ' compare: 'ÃÃÃ' caseSensitive: false. does not work either. Is your test new ? Then maybe don't add it, or disable it with a comment explaining why you disabled it. It could be that we need to fix this, I am just not sure this is supposed to work. Hi there, I have a single test case that causes String>>beginsWithEmpty:caseSensitive: to fail, as follows: ('ÃÃÃÃÃÃ' beginsWithEmpty: 'Ã©Ã¨Ã ' caseSensitive: false). What I am really wondering is what is the procedure for monitoring the lifetime of a failing test in Pharo? I would like to know, should I check in this test? I have a group of other tests that pass, and so could contribute a fuller test scenario. Or is it enough to just write up a bug report, and just re-run the test myself when the bug gets fixed? Dario, Given that you are getting the "External module not found" error, I would say that Pharo-launcher probably should not be used to start tODE images ... For tODE to work, you need to have a set of gci libraries located in the pharo-vm directory (on linux). GsDevKit_home does that for you, because GsDevKit_home manages the pharo vm for you (it is installed as part of the GsDevKit_home process). I assume that the pharo launcher uses "it's own vm" and not the one that GsDevKit_home knows about ... If you want to use Pharo-launcher with tODE images, then you need to copy the GemStone libraries (libgcirpc-*, libssl-*, and libgcits-*) into the pharo-vm directory used by the Pharo-launcher ... Whenever you download a new version of GemStone you will have to copy the gci libs for that version as well ... Over the last couple of years, these techniques saw a surge of interest benefiting from the JavaScript standardization process as well as performance improvements based on just-in-time compilation that increased their general acceptance. The Reflectâ16 workshop aims to bring together people who do research on reflection and runtime meta-programming, as well as users of such techniques to e.g. build applications, language extensions, or software tools. We invite contributions to the workshop on a wide range of topics related to design, implementation, and application of reflective APIs and runtime meta-programming techniques, as well as empirical studies and typing for such systems and languages. We welcome technical papers as well as work-in-progress and position papers from the academic as well as industrial perspective. Position paper should take a perhaps controversial stance on a specific topic and argue the position well. Ubuntu 14.04 with pharo-launcher

Ciao, on Ubuntu system 14.04 i load the Pharo-launcher support. Now all the pharo.image on the system run with the same pharo VM, but i have a image ( Glass TODE environment ) to load with specific VM and relative library. If i load it with the default pharo VM, when i do some Tode commands the system report: Error: External module not found. I think to create a new launcher application. I copy the /usr/share/applications/pharo-vm-desktop into pharoTode-vm.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=Pharo Tode VM GenericName=Pharo Tode Virtual Machine Exec=pharo-vm-x %F Icon=pharo Terminal=false Type=Application StartupNotify=false Categories=Development; MimeType=application/x-pharo-image; NoDisplay=true but i don't understand how reference the specific Pharo VM. It seems that people at Twitter just did this for Ruby -- reimplementation from scratch with an API oriented towards Ruby users. A summary http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/6263 Of course it depends on what you expect to achieve. This thread starts with aiming at getting German, French and Spanish sorting done. Plus some other similar cases. The algorithms are table driven and the tables are read into the Smalltalk image as is. As of now the Unicode Character Database is in the Squeak/Pharo image http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/6244 Getting the sorting done does not seem to be extraordinary hard.
