Thanks Aliaksei. I think that in the future we should be radically with hardcoded fonts and color. I think that a widget should have color and font as variables that we can set up from the outside. No, unfortunately, as far as I can remember, we do not have that. There are another hooks you may use but only in certain scenarios (#fuelNew, #fuelAfterMaterialization, global sends, etc). But everything is listed in http://rmod.inria.fr/web/software/Fuel/Version1.9/Documentation/Customizing… so if you didn't find anything of help in there there are chances there isn't anything. Hi Max, Yes, I was referring to this page: http://rmod.inria.fr/web/software/Fuel/Version1.9/Documentation/Customizing…, though I had it backwards (and thought I might have) and got confused as the example is about a stream. I meant that this page demonstrates a way to register a substitution rule with the analyzer on serialization, rather than implement #fuelAccepts: with a mapper. I do not see a use with the analyzer on materialization. Question about implementation of a delay

Hi, I am building a widget for fast table in order to filter them for Synectique and Pharo. For now I have a Rubric editor where we can write a pattern and I use a Rubric announcement to update the Fast Table. So each time the rubric is update the method #update is call. At the beginning #update was: ---- pattern := self patternFromString: filterField getText asString trimBoth. fastTable dataSource: (initialDataSource newDataSourceMatching: pattern). fastTable refresh ----- But this will update the Fast Table at each character, so I want to add a delay. For example I want to let the user type and update the table if he don't type for 0.2second. The only way I found is this: ---- update: anAnnoucement | pattern timeStamp | timeStamp := DateAndTime now. timestamp := timeStamp copy. [ (Delay forMilliseconds: 200) wait. timeStamp = timestamp ifTrue: [ pattern := self patternFromString: filterField getText asString trimBoth. fastTable dataSource: (initialDataSource newDataSourceMatching: pattern). fastTable refresh ] ] fork ---- But I think that create a new process a each update is really too heavyâ¦ So I would like to have some advices from experienced people to know if there is a better way to implement a delay. I just had a realization. I do need MT (is this what forking callout/callback threaded vm is called?) I think, for callout, not callback. Hey ClÃ©ment, it works! I had to delete the gcc soft link and relink to 4.6 then it completed. I ran the generator.image on it and it seems to do well. thanks so much! Hello. I compile on Ubuntu too. Is the default Pharo VM compiled with gcc 4.9 ? I compile the it with gcc 4.6 and I am not sure it is possible out of the box with gcc 4.8+ as they changed some default settings in the compiler. It relies on robots to build a map of the environment as a first step to further mission specific tasks (eg. extracting trapped victims). In scenarios where time is critical such in the aftermath of an earthquake, the use of multiple robots allows to speed up the exploration and to take advantage of distributed sensor to increase the mapping process. Each robot explores a different but connected area. The global map is built by merging local maps built by individual robots. To build a map of an unknown environment, a robot has to perform Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). Based on different perceived data (typically odometery and laser scans), metric SLAM algorithms localize the robot while building an occupancy grid. The occupancy grid models the environment as a matrix where each cell denotes the probability of occupancy of a small area. Best metric SLAM algorithms produce precise maps that allow localization with typically centimetric precision. However, an occupancy grid map is materialized as a large matrix. Beside the memory consumption, such a map leads to high CPU consumption for path planning. CPU consumption is also a concern in multi-robot exploration. Indeed, merging metric maps produced by different robots is computationally intensive. The above drawbacks of metrics maps can be mitigated by the use of topological maps. However, topological maps do not allow precise obstacle delimitations needed for autonomous robots exploration. The goal of this PhD is to contribute to our ongoing effort, and propose a solution that gathers the best of both worlds. The expected outcome is a SLAM algorithm that builds a topological map that embeds metric information. The target algorithm should be implemented on top of the ROS (www.ros.org <http://www.ros.org/>) middleware and validated both in simulation and on actual robots. I'm sorry for not asking, Craig. Do you have a compelling use case? I would think that the whole system would be much more agile and lean, especially on the Pi. Callbacks would mean threaded plugins could run. Hi Craig, I saw your thread on that. Luckily NIO is a blocking call-out when you call select, so no callbacks. Callbacks would be nice to have available. It sounds like it is potentially big in impact to the image environment...pure events. I don't wish to see conversation completely stop on it, but I do not have a compelling use for it yet. Hi Robert, as you know the Squeak version of Cryptography was back in the days on http://www.squeaksource.com/Cryptography.html For Pharo it moved to SmalltalkHub http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~Cryptography/Cryptography and I guess your modified Cryptography-rww.37.mcz is based on "Cryptography-mtf.36" (which is the latest version in this repo). So if you do not have already please open a SmalltalkHub Account and ask here on the list with your account name to add you as a contributor to the Cryptography team on STHub. This way you can commit your MCZ in the development repo on STHub. If you have something to contribute to the Pharo base image check out http://pharo.org/contribute-propose-fix.
