I wonder how we could use tODE for remote Pharo dev too. The way Dale shows things is really compelling indeed. Kilon, The merge driver is needed when you work with several people in a given repo and want to merge branches etc. Filetree metadata is a pain in the ass when merging and Thierry's tool solves that. If you do any complicated thing with branches you'll have to understand git cli tools anyway. Once installed it is transparent. If one is working in its own branch there is no need for it. Also realize that SourceTree is not available in Linux. I have been using git gui and gitk successfully there along with meld for three way merges. GitFileTree is/was an attempt at going as simple as possible on the 'how to do it' so that we could concentrate on doing usefull things with it ('now that we have it, what can we do around it?'). As I'm the only one projecting his use case around it, it doesn't see much progress on that front. I took a look at gifiletree-Merge drive and from the installation instructions alone , it blew my mind. Is there a simpler way of doing this ? Because I will have to do a separate video tutorial on command line and then another one for git configuration and customisation, I dont see how to do this in a noob friendly manner. I would prefer something that installs from inside Pharo with no use of the terminal. I assume my viewers are new to coding and new to Pharo. Also to create a video tutorial about something I will have first to test and try it for a considerable amount of time so I make sure that I don't introduce viewers to all sort of problems. for opal compiler developer: issue on calculating the frameSize

I uploaded a cs fix_closure_stack_frame_size_computation for this issue 13854 <https://pharo.fogbugz.com/default.asp?13854> frameSize calculated wrongly for #lineSegmentsDo: ! It is not meant as a fix but to show and make it easier to understand where the bug is. I don't like this fix because it looks like "fixing the right bug at the wrong place" About the issue: It is all about calculating the correct stack frame size for a compiled method (compiledmethod>>#header) With opal, the result is sometimes larger than it is needed or to small (strangly enough, although we have *some* methods with a too small stack frame, a vm crash only happens for me if I am stepping through the method with the debugger). The needed stack frame size is calculated from the numTemps (arguments + number of temporaries) + the max stack depth *and* if the method defines any blocks the methods stack frame size is the maximum of - its own needed stack frame size - all of its blocks needed stack frame sizes. (And what makes this calculation a little bit tricky, the methods arguments and tempvars, although it looks like that, don't influence the stack frame size for the blocks. Can't we have a part of Pharo days devoted to fixing some of this? It would be useful I am sure. STH is putting Amber, Pharo and Mongo together and is a good case for scaling properly. This may feel like a problem but is actually a huge opportunity to get our stack right. Amber is now 0.13 and much nicer inside. Is there a way to get a clone of the current running system for experimenting? I mean with the whole stack as it is? And STH can also be extended to point to Github resources, commits, ... and add a lot of readability to the packages. I do not want STH to die. It is useful. It is a great case. It works and just needs a little love. Who wants to help here? I think that I can, just need some interested people to join. Mail me.
