And one get tired of complaining; at one point I just open a bugfix, create a slice and add a line to my image building makefiles to load the bugfix because bickering about whether it should be integrated or not isn't worth the time spent on it. So my suggestion would be more like this: 2.0 stable, 3.0 beta (freeze), and 4.0 alpha (experimental), and maybe different teams for handling each of those (and releases on a six months basis?).
