+1 on debug-it. I would also like a Browse-it menu item "everywhere." Control-b works, but that forces me to change from mouse to keyboard. -1 (make that -10<g>) on merging the inspector and explorer. They are different tools with different uses. I am quite happy to ask for the one I want. It *would* be nice to have the tools offer each other: the inspector could have an explore menu item, and vice versa. I know people worked very hard on the "new inspector," but it tried to be too many things all at once, and as a result, wasn't good for any of them. Customized (class-specific) inspectors can be very useful. IIRC, there is/was an MVC inspector. Snoop (Ian Bartholomew for MVP) and Ghoul (Chris Uppal, crash dump "debugger") are great examples of programming tools. We need to make it easy (*really* easy) to build user interfaces, and toolsmiths will emerge. To be fair, it's starting to happen: http://www.pharocasts.com/2011/03/build-xml-browser.html A big freedom I still find missing is the ability to make the above in the form of a composite presenter (PanelMorph??) that can be readily embedded in more complex GUI elements. As Martin said, for C libraries you can use FFI. But if the libraries are in C++ .... mmmm I don't know. I will probably rollback these fixes and only integrate 4533 because I cannot merge anymore with 14077 while I thought I tested it before integrating it. :( And I will wait that camillo have a look. May be I merged something unrelated to 4598 and 4600. Since I cannot merge I do not know. Igor one of these days we should do something to get a debugger instead of this ugly red box. Hi Kirk, I can't really answer your questions but I can say a word about the OpenCV issue: you'll probably need to write a FFI binding. See for example: http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/2426. I started writing one for OpenCV a few years ago when I was just learning smalltalk, but I dropped the project without making much progress. I can send you what I did if you're interested (and if I find the code), it could be a useful starting point I guess... What is the best way to include C++ projects like: 1) openCV 2) an OCR 3) CMU Sphinx <http://cmusphinx.org/> 4) AutoHotkey 5) a screen capture and how does one figure out how to locate documentation on existing tools like: 1) Audio Input and manipulation by FFT for audio object recognition 2) Video input and graphic object recognition 3) Picture input and graphic object recognition Is there an application guide? NewInspector was an attempt, I personally added it in Pharo 1.1 or so but I finally could not use it at all. I was like finger cut with this tool. So another version will have to be done first.
