For real projects (and simple reports) I used to generate html and print and so with a browser, but I would like and advanced PDF generator for some more complex reportes. I should search on my backups and I'm almost sure I've a copy of SPDF but I not used because seems that the license is restrictive. [Pharo-project] [ANN] Google Analytics Tracker, a small tool

Hi, I want to announce the release of Google Analytics Tracker, a small tool we make for getitmade.com (Nick Ager's project), to allow us to get analytics data. Right now is very simple, it just give us page visits data, but can be used as a foundation to get a lot more info. You get it by: Gofer it squeaksource: 'gat'; package: 'ConfigurationOfGoogleAnalyticsTracker'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfGoogleAnalyticsTracker) load. To see how it works just see GAAccess class>>#example. It uses Zinc and PetitParser, so if gemstone can load both packages, it will work without any problems (I think it will, but I will check it tomorrow... maybe with a different configuration). You will be able to add to your pages something like the image I'm sending :) Cheers, Esteban

We have defined a document template (an ODT document) with which an intermediate document is built thanks to the OpenOffice API then the intermediate document is sent to the OpenOffice service to perform the format conversion. The downside of this solution is that the OpenOffice API is either in Java or in C++. Thanks. I got Michael to import this into the public Store. That's an interesting exercise, because in current versions, Store uses Glorp, so loading a different version of Glorp and trying to publish it is interesting. Even in a different namespace the class extensions of base classes collide. But it got imported. I'd like to be able to compare this to the current Glorp versions and bring back portability fixes into the main branch. One issue is that this comes as one package, GlorpDBX, so the package structure of the original is lost. That can probably be worked around, but it's a bit of work. [Pharo-project] Report generation? (I need an update)

Hi, I created the "libharu" binding since to me this was the only way to get a PDF out of Pharo without a dependency on other "to be installed software" environment. In a seaside app you may have control over the server and install jasperreports/FOP/Ghostscript/... and configure until it all works together. But for a rich client app I wanted to be more independent, a simple DLL and some FFI calls and you are ready to go. Makes it more easy to distribute the app. Unfortunately (compared to JasperReports where you have a template editor) the libharu is very, very low level so you have to do most stuff manually (text, line breaks, images, paint tables, ...) or you write a simple reporting engine yourself. For simple documents it is enough ... for more you should really have a look at engines where you can define printed material visually (like in Jasper report builder).
