I imagine Now we should invest in specification tests. And since we are all busy and we need to sleep sometimes then the system can change without us been really aware. Writing such tests should not be that complex or require specific hard knowledge. Now my plate is ***full*** So expect if the community decides to grow and get mature, I do not see how we can really make progress. It needs a lot of work like: - review the classification I made :P. - remove from the list the items we don't like, don't care or don't want in pharo. - adding more packages. I would like to improve the communications tools list with soap ones if any, the XMLRPC gsoc project, and inter image communication tools... I believe it's important to introduce pharo in commercial projects. - adding better explanations of each tool? - specifying the status of each tool. Is it stable on pharo 1.0? and in 1.1? [Pharo-project] Beyond animated gif?

Hello all, I have a growing number of annotated images and thought it would be nice to make a movie out of them. Following the example of an animated gif, I had a result a LOT faster than I expected, but the quality is really poor. Maybe setting a palette would help, but I'm wondering if there are other/better ways? Extra credit goes to any solution that can be driven from within Pharo or at least w/o littering my drive with lots of images, but I'll take what I can get if the quality is right. images2mpg has been mentioned in a few places, but it is playing hard to get. [Pharo-project] Dynamic linking - again

Hello all, Browser environments and associated scoped browsers have given me a reasonable tool to review some code I hope to release soon. It contains some cruft that I am moving to reconsider or shred at some time in the future, and a few things that would be useful if only they worked. A good example of the latter is my misadventures with dynamic linking. Trying to get libdl.so to load has been an exercise in frustration. I understand some of the reasoning behind naming and searching for libraries as it is now done. While I ordinarily quickly and loudly criticize Squeak for silent failures (they seldom do anyone any favors; I prefer my bad news in real time), loading a library might not be the best time to raise an error as it might hobble startup. However, there should be a way to tell why something didn't load on startup, or at least to trace why it won't load "now." So far, I don't see that. I have gotten just far enough away from my most recent hassles with this to forget where I built the hacked vm. It might be sitting on my laptop. I'm going to shelve it for now, but the hack I have in place is pretty sad, and there is a LOT of room to grow for the VM to tell the user what it is doing when (failing at) loading modules. Bill
