The plugins *could* be just the raw binaries ala unix builds. The only reason they were bundles is because in early 2000 era we ran os-9 and os-x flavors. That could be all dropped, and maybe just forgo creating plugin bundles.

The question it raises for me - I've always been tantalised by the prospect of Smalltalk running on top of a popular and widespread platform - Bistro, which brought Smalltalk to the JVM was an early attempt. What I'd really like to see these days though is a Smalltalk environment running on top of either JavaScript or Flash. It would probably be pretty slow, but given that the thing I most want to do with computer is write easily accessable casual games in a language I love, it would hit a sweet spot for me. Is there anyone out there working on this sort of project? Steve

Stef, Very true, #on:do: is not syntax, BUT, it looks that way to the casual observer, which might be the point of the question. If I decide that it really should be #on:DO:, I can make that addition in seconds. {} involves changing the compiler, right? I'm still watching. Alien didn't really exist on Linux (so it was not an option) when I last looked, and native boost was starting to look pretty attractive. FFI gets some points because I know more about (at least using) it than the others.
