[Pharo-project] Win32 registry manipulation?

Hello all, Do we have anything that can read and write to the Windows registry? I would not much care except that I have some unit tests that do things create ODBC data sources, and it would be nice to keep that functionality assuming it easy to do so. Bill

[Pharo-project] Announcement support in SystemWindow

I produced a ChangeSet available on: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=806 This version is an improvement over the previous version (Morphic- Alexandre_Bergel.301). The .cs only contains the difference. Note that for the Mondrian users, the changeset is contained into the Mondrian distribution. Made a small experiment the other week of, sharing in case someone's interested. It renders an arbitrary SystemWindow in a ffenestri-window (on mac at least) in the simplest way I could think of at least. (not efficient (3MB or so per window), nor exactly pretty), but it makes for a nice demo imo, even though the window is unresponsible to input. Render update on resizing works, with a faux render loop instead of real window resize event response :) In theory you can do openInWorld on the same window, and manipulate that, but I wouldn't recommend it, as the faux loop in the workspace is in no way synchronized with World Drawing and you will get DNU's after awhile. Install the changesets from ftp.smalltalkconsulting.com/experimental/Ffenestri/ first, then the changeset in the attached zip. Doit'ing the workspace in the .rtf should then open a Hierarchy Browser on HierarchyBrowser, read comments there for more details :) Should work on any SystemWindow instance, though actually getting to an instance before it's opened can be surprisingly hard... Now, this morning I updated my Debian laptop to from Lenny amd64 to Squeeze amd64 (the testing version of Debian) and magically the problems are gone. I don't know what was the reason of the fix but this Squeeze version has the following packages: ia32-libs 20090808 libc6 2.9-23 libc6-i386 2.9-23 netbase 4.37 and the old Lenny amd64 had: ia32-libs 2.7 libc6 2.7-18 libc6-i386 2.7-18 netbase 4.34 I don't know the specific as I didn't take care to track which update was the one that fixed it as I was updating my entire system. Maybe someone with ubuntu amd64 (which is based on debian testing) can confirm that with those versions the network works on 64 bit OS. The middle mouse button (your "scrolly wheel") brought up the menu in ancient dialects of Smalltalk. Then it got messy when people preferred using the right mouse button for context menus and several hacks appeared in both the VM and the image in order to do so. See http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/897 IIRC the Windows VM can swap the middle and right mouse buttons with a setting in an .ini file or something. Ditto for the VM; at least in Squeak there's a preference for swapping the mouse buttons. If you're completely confused, insert some logging code into the EventSensor (or whatever Pharo has instead of that) and see which mouse button the actual events are reporting.
