[Pharo-project] wikiserver 1.4.4 promo codes

Apple approved WikiServer 1.4.4 for sale on the App store yesterday, as usual they have handed us another 50 USA promo codes, so if there are people on the list that would like one or two, please email me, not the list, a request. I note these are for USA itunes customers, but there are ways for people to create a new dummy itunes USA account with out supplying credit card information to redeem the promo code then install the app on your device for a month of free usage. Since we now support the ability to export the wiki data and run on a desktop version it's easy to preserve any data for later importing into a purchased version. -- = = = ======================================================================== John M. [Pharo-project] Cursor theming

Just evaluate CursorReplacer new replaceCursors if you dont like the default cursors. Since these are similar to Vista cursors the cursor does not change on this OS when you enter the pharo window. I dont know if we can have the correct cursors for each platform included in the image by default, there may be copyright issues. Note that the code just replaces the contents of the class variables and does not change the hard coded Squeak cursors, so old cursors could be restored if required. Take care when you theme with own icons: beside the class variables in class Cursor you also have to change a form instance in class HandMorph which is used when dragging windows on the pharo desk. [Pharo-project] Good Work Guys!

All, I just had to let you all know that I'm so very excited about the Pharo project. I've been back and forth with Squeak for many years. Like others, I love the language, but very much disliked the interface. I knew I just couldn't foist the look-and-feel on my users and get away with it. Seaside mitigated this somewhat, since they wouldn't have to see the interface, but it was still sort of painful to me. I hated being so shallow that the look and feel affected me so much, but there it was. I totally agree with you guys and your direction. My kids will still use Squeak, but for me, it will be Pharo, different systems for different goals. For me Pharo looks awesome, and while I've only looked a little bit at Polymorph, it seems to be exactly what is needed, a bunch of ready-made widgets to build UI's. I'll have no problem with my users dealing with this interface. I can't wait for the UI builder I've seen on Youtube. Finally, a truly cross-platform development system for smalltalk for the mainstream developer! This is probably too long already, but thank you for all of your hard work! DZ
