[Pharo-project] [ANN] Submit your software to the ESUG Awards!

Dear Smalltalkers, The dead-line for the ESUG Innovation Technology Awards is in two days. So, it's time to submit your Smalltalk related software. The submission process is easy. All needed is short PDF document (up to 4 pages) providing the software info (name, developers, affiliation/ country, Smalltalk dialect, URL, keywords, licence) some screenshots and a description of the software. [Pharo-project] VM buid from source on debian linux - pls help

Dear list, lenny (clean and new), GCC, http://squeakvm.org/unix/release/Squeak-3.10-5.src.tar.gz: "make" yields - disabledPlugins.c:21: error: redefinition of 'RomePlugin_exports' and stops. Same result with svn export http://squeakvm.org/svn/squeak/tags/unix-3.10-5 or svn co http://squeakvm.org/svn/squeak/trunk squeak-svn I cannot find a working source package for a current vm. Can somebody please give me some hints how/where/from whom to get a current working source package for a vm on debian linux? Best regards, Andreas

Hi Bill, I have a good machine now... I'm running Ubuntu 9.04, 64 bits. I agree with you that OB is slow for some tasks like adding a package. I also lost code when not saving a method, going to another browser to change another method and going back to the original or things like that... I'll try to reproduce them and fix them. I did not modify anything related to changing methods so this should work as before. Now, about polluting the changes file (no the changes set, I think they are two different things) I would not be so conservative, I mean disk space is not a big issue now don't you think? I think it is better to save all the necessary info in the changes file to get back to what you have before a hang. [Pharo-project] Execute another program from Pharo

Hello, I want to execute another program from Pharo and collect the result (everything shown on the console) as a string. A basic example : *Console execute: 'ls -l /Users'* should return a string like: *'total 0* *drwxrwxrwt 6 root wheel 204 25 jan 23:03 Shared* *drwxr-xr-x@ 46 user1 user1 1564 4 jui 07:46 user1* *'* How can I do that ? [Pharo-project] different behavior between Dictionary and MethodDictionary for #add:

Hi, I'm trying to test all subclasses of Dictionary and I just find a specific behavior for MethodDictionary : -> #add: return the association that has been added except for SmallDictionary for which #add: return the value of the association. Is there a reason for such an implementaion?
