[Pharo-project] Re-Invention of Smalltalk

I fully agree with StÃ©phane that it is time to re-invent Smalltalk! Smalltalk could once again allow someone to invent the future. Pharo could become some sort of "Smalltalk in the cloud", which in the true spirit of Smalltalk would include: - a common language; - an integrated development environment and; - shared open source packages/classes. The main challenges for Pharo are probably: Step 1. to make the development environment more intuitive (remove all non-core packages); Step 2. to simplify collaborating on a project online and; Step 3. to make sharing and distributing non-core packages transparent. Pharo currently seems to be focussing mainly on Step 1. I believe Pharo is on the right track because a bigger active community will maximise innovation, and to get more people involved, the environment will need to be more intuitive. [Pharo-project] download link in pharo webpage

First of all, I can believe how beautiful Pharo web page is now. Very cool. Nice design. One little suggestion (sorry if you already receive it): Perhaps its better yo have another link like "home", "about" and so on, but for "downloads". And move what it is now in "about" to "downloads". I think this could be more ï»¿intuitive. I spend some minutes searching it, till I found it there (in about link). Others can correct/amend as appropriate, but a few answers: Mailing lists have long been used for Squeak, and it is part of the culture. One good thing is that they are archived and searchable, IF you know where to look. If you can tolerate some link-rot, you can start here: http://www.anest.ufl.edu/users/wschwab/Squeak.htm to get to archives of the various lists. Re fonts, IIRC, more will come with time. A high priority is to clean up the licenses all around, and that includes the fonts. As "ugly" as they are, I like mono-space fonts for code. Bill Wilhelm K.
