[Pharo-project] It's time for Squeak 4.0!

Squeak 4.0 is within sight. With this release, the four-year relicensing project of the Leadership team will be complete. We will be able to incorporate under SFLC, and Pharo will be one step closer to a 1.0 release. Squeak 4.0 will be the first official squeak release with no code under SqueakL; everything in the .image, .changes, and .sources files will be under either the MIT license or the Apache license. I've done the first step and done a full audit, using Yoshiki's tools [1], of all the code in Squeak 3.10.2, with the exception of four packages: - Monticello - SUnit, TestRunner, and SUnitImproved - Universes - Traits I also applied all of yoshiki's etoys changes to 3.10.2. The algorithm that Yoshiki seemed to follow when cleaning etoys is: - If the method can be easily deleted, delete it - Otherwise, use the historical image [1] to revert to the latest version before the problematic author - Fix any bugs this causes I think we can use the same procedure. Perhaps Yoshiki will comment. So, to help with the relicense, grab the historical image[1], check out the license audit [2], leave a note on mantis about what you think you'll work on, and start rolling out change sets. For your convenience, all of the license audits are included both in the relicensing tools download and on mantis. I'll try to keep both up to date as we progress with the relicense I'll also be looking for an official license statement from the authors of Traits and Universes; if those can be unambiguously shown to be MIT-licensed, it will save me a couple of audits. SUnit and Monticello already have enough problems that I know they are not clean. Windoze XP feedback. [Pharo-project] new SLICE-PopUpAndCoRefsRemoval

Hi all, I've uploaded SLICE-PopUpAndCoRefsRemoval-alain_plantec.1 in PharoInbox. It cleans out all PopUpMenu, FillInTheBlank, FillInTheBlankMorph and SelectionMenu references. They are raplaced by UIManager default standard dialogs. A little bit more cleaning is now possible with last Gary Polymorph-Widgets version. I will do it soon. Cheers alain

[Pharo-project] looking for Unicode testers

Hi all, finally I have something to look at :-) http://impara.de/michael/unicode.zip It is the pharo one click with a modified (slightly outdated) image and an updated Unix VM. The image is not cleaned up at all, just so you are warned ;-) Please try out this version on different platforms and check if unicode keyboard input, clipboard copy and paste as well as filenames are working. There are probably still plenty of bugs in there, that's why I need extra testers :-) Please also point out any existing patches I missed to include in this image. Enjoy Michael

Hi all, The method add: in the class Set return an error if the parameter is nil. Maybe, we can return nil and manage the error outside the method. Currently, the method is --- | index | newObject ifNil: [self error: 'Sets cannot meaningfully contain nil as an element']. index := self findElementOrNil: newObject.
