Even if the messages shouldn't be part of the API. With this we avoid possible DNU at runtime. In Sophie we used I think shift, command, control to identify the modifier keys and mapped them in the platform classes to the platform specific bits. Hi, That is very handy information. I've searched on the pharo wiki, but did not find any info about SqueakMap, except that: 'Remove SqueakMap and Installer from core'. Would it not be a good idea to provide a wiki page for users that know Squeak and 'miss' certain features in Pharo, explaining a work around for Pharo; this info you gave as a first example? I want to register strong disagreement (nothing personal) with the promotion of TeaTime. The underlying concept is great, but Croquet's implementation (Tweak) violates one of my strong beliefs: never do to the language what you can do with the language. Creating new syntax and a new compiler to hide a fundamental implementation detail (events) that is readily and appropriately handled by object composition was a big mistake. Another was a failure to make the 3D worlds of Croquet readily embedable in 2D software. These things did not "kill Smalltalk," but they did not help Croquet. Hopefully we can eventually bring some of the good things out of Croquet as separate packages that will be widely useable. A youtube video of VNC-based pair-programming on a beginning/intermediate level problem using squeak could be very compelling, I think. This would be the poor man's version of my idea about a web-cast of a live pair-programming session. Actually doing the live webcast, complete with mutli-channel chat/feedback/comments/questions and then making it available the way Metanomics interviews are, would be a very good teaching/marketing tool for Smalltalk. A primitive example of this is found about 2 minutes into this science friday video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fWPwOLJFA8 People have devised web-page playback of the video synced with the local chat discussion without the distracting superposition of the text chat on top of the video image, which could be very useful in a teachingseminar context, I believe.
