Hi Roelof, I remember about a Smalltalk book presenting the CRC concept precisely used to cut complex problem in small chunks. I can't find the reference right now but it is very likely among those books available online (http://stephane.ducasse.free.fr/FreeBooks.html). May be a member of the list remember about it.
