Hey, all. I had an hour last night to start playing with pharo 4. in the hour that played with it, there are already features i miss when going back to pharo 3 for getting work done. my questions is, how close is pharo 4 to be useable in a day to day environment? can i use it as a part of my regular development? what can i do to help move everything along? thanks!

okay, you've got me to switch.. anyway.. it's not that big deal to fire up pharo 3 with the same codebase.. i think i saw GTSpotter on a screencast somewhere.. i will go look for it.. when you mention the other nice things, where can i find them? where should i look? my day time development team (ruby and objective-c) is working on a side project during lunch presentations, and then on our own time. it will be a commercial product, and we're doing it in seaside.. .hopefully this will generate 6 new converts into the fold. it is kind of confusing for everyone at first.. but during our meetings, things get cleared up and people are getting a good handle on all of it... to the point that during regular work, i am starting to hear "i wish we (ruby ecosystem) had (insert ST goodness) here.." Thanks for your tutorials Kilion. They're very valuable. Talking about Pharo 4, I have downloaded and play a little with it, but I feel it lacks two features that are important to me: 1. Proper tab-autocompletion: it works, but feels unresponsive compared with the one on Pharo 3. 2. Control arrow key to move between words. There million ways to help, you can a) bug fix c) document d) make your own tools and share them with the rest of us e) introduce pharo to other people so we can grow as a community and the list goes on and on.
I only spend a hour a day with Pharo but is my happiest hour :)

I found the problem. The issue is that Ctrl + arrow key is now Alt + Arrow key. The problem is that, in Linux Ctrl key stops working as usual inside Pharo and is replaced by alt key, which is certainly a problem when people is used to shorcuts and expect them to behave consistently between apps. Hello Agreed, I know there are some technical limitation to using ctrl, although I don't remember what is the problem exactly, but this shortcut inconsistency is a problem. I experience the same on Windows, sometimes there is ctrl, sometimes alt and sometimes alt with completely unusual char-key, for example in these most basic shortcuts: select all = alt+A (instead of ctrl+A, interesting thing is ctrl+A works in Playground), undo = ctrl+Z (which is right), but redo/do again = alt+J (never seen such thing anywhere before, it is mostly ctrl+Y or ctrl+shift+Z).
