[Pharo-project] Please review DrGeo
hello, For those who installed free or paid version of DrGeo on iPad or Android, it will be very helpful you review it on GooglePlay or iTunes. Some users Install DrGeo on Android phone and are disappointed (not enough memory then crash, slow, screen too small) and they are killing DrGeo because of that, but DrGeo is for tablet (although I use it happily on my galaxy note phone). For next release I will be careful to limit the Android user base. Thanks -- Dr. Geo - http://www.drgeo.eu
it would help first to explain the diffirence between the free and paid version , cause I see nothing mentioned in app store. ________________________________ From: Hilaire Fernandes <hilaire.fernandes@gmail.com> To: Pharo Development <pharo-project@lists.gforge.inria.fr> Sent: Saturday, 27 October 2012, 8:52 Subject: [Pharo-project] Please review DrGeo hello, For those who installed free or paid version of DrGeo on iPad or Android, it will be very helpful you review it on GooglePlay or iTunes. Hi Hilaire, Could you provide a direct download of the free version of drGeo on the drGeo web site because many Android tablets have no access to Google Play ? Another solution is to distribute your product on the other Android shops (Amazon, Archos appstore, Luxia download center, Soc.io Mall, etc.) but It's probably a lot of work. Best regards Olivier :-) Le 27 oct. 2012 à 07:52, Hilaire Fernandes a écrit :

I can't. I am bound to GooglePlay once I start using it. Hilaire Le 28/10/2012 08:42, Olivier Auverlot a écrit :

Hilaire, Are you bound by agreements other than the Google Play TOS? The standard terms of service don't limit you regarding other distribution options: http://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/bin/answer.py?hl=en&a... I remember reading I can't distribute outside GooglePlay once published there. Did Google change their policy? Need to be checked. Anyway I am not sure it is worth the effort. I was fun to do but there are too many rough edges. Hilaire Le 12/11/2012 05:32, Phil (list) a écrit :

As far as I know, that's never been the policy (at least nothing I've read as a developer in the U.S. would indicate that... if you're elsewhere and are seeing a different policy that would be good to know.) If it were, developers also on the Amazon app store for example would have a problem. I agree that it may not be worth the effort since you could also put an apk download link on a website that would let the majority of the users who for whatever reason can't or don't want to use the Play Store use DrGeo (assuming you're not concerned about collecting revenue). I'll let others speak to the pros and cons of alternate markets and mainly wanted to pass along that you're not limited should one or more of them make sense for you or your users.
