I think it is more a social & convenience feature than that it really does something.

This feature does not work, it never did. It was meant to be implemented at some point but unfortunately the original developer stopped working on StHub and its currently maintained by one dev Esteban and he is very busy. Me comment pointed to the fact that pressing the button don't added the project that I wanted to watch to my list, but now seems to work again.
