Re: [Pharo-project] Fwd: About default UI
Hello all, Watery 2 is starting to grow on me. My own quirks include a tendency to mess with fonts (I find mono-spaced is best for code, and I use the smallest font that is comfortable for me), and background colors (reducing contrast and hence eye strain). As long as those changes work, everybody should be able to have what they want. I recommend enabling fast dragging by default; I would add do-its to the intro text to turn it on and off. In my experience, it looks nice, but it is slow; I prefer the more responsive option. Re speed, I recently noted that the newest images loaded into a frozen state on Windows. Yesterday, I noted that I was using a very old VM, grabbed the one from 3.10, and all was well. I have not tried a side-by-side comparison, but my sense is that the new images are faster than the old image I am still using (mostly because everything I need is in it and it works). Here's what DejaVu looks like by the way. It's identical to Vera, just more complete.
About the theme, I'm not fond of the aqua clones, but at least they show a change from default squeak and are better than vistary and soft squeak (those have illegible window titles, thanks to the shading or high-contrast background). -- Damien Pollet type less, do more [ | ] http://people.untyped.org/damien.pollet <Picture 1.png>_______________________________________________ Pharo-project mailing list Pharo-project@lists.gforge.inria.fr http://lists.gforge.inria.fr/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pharo-project

+1 (I use proportional not mono for code, but I can live with switching. I can live with Watery 2, though I'm not a Mac user. Squeak 1.1 looked kinda like System 6, anyway.) On Sat, Dec 13, 2008 at 9:24 AM, Bill Schwab <BSchwab@anest.ufl.edu> wrote:
