Esmertec itself merged with a french company and is now Myriad Group: http://www.myriadgroup.com/
And all the people involved went to Google to do V8 JavaScript and (I guess) now Dart.

No.
It is a pity that that does not seem to be the case. Probably again an example of nice work done in Smalltalk but too far ahead of time to be used in practice.

And we will, there is a lot of good momentum, we just have to stick to it. There are lots of examples of lesser known languages or technologies that became popular along with some successful product. Objective-C is a good example, but there are so many others, some which few people heard about. Sven
