Maybe, but #brighter was removed from Color class in Pharo ;)

I like it - looks OK for me on a laptop with Watery2, but I also changed the cursors since the dark one is not appropriate anymore (see thread "Cursor theming").

If you work on Mac the cursor is black anyway - on Vista it's white.
