[Pharo-project] DrGeo on ARM Android
Dimitry and I are working on the DrGeo port to the Android ARM Operating System. DrGeo on Pharo with Stack VM proves to be smooth and neat to use. http://www.drgeo.eu/screenshot-video Thanks -- Dr. Geo -- http://www.drgeo.eu

I read about Dr.Geo in many educational journals, a very good reputation - worldwide. But sorry to tell you (yes, the troll again!), but if you had taken the c++ codebase, with little work compiled it with XCode, uploaded it to appstore, you could have sold ... hmmm ... 100.000-400.000 for 1.50⬠each.... You loose much, much, much money on going with Pharo! Wrong marketing. Have fun! Guido Stepken
I see pharo apps at apple store which is not free. 2012/2/22 Guido Stepken <gstepken@googlemail.com>

Thanks for the port, Dimitry and Hilaire, looks very interesting... And Guido, frankly, what is the purpose of your comment? It does not make much sense. You are doing no favor to DrGeo developers. This is, literally, trolling. I really hope you are having lots of fun, otherwise this is simply idiotic. I will not reply anymore to this thread, just could not avoid it... Bests, Jordi

You are too kind, the reputation of DrGeo is not that important. Hilaire -- Dr. Geo -- http://www.drgeo.eu

You know, mr.Troll, some people having more honorable aims than just getting $$$$ for themselves. But don't try to understand it, i know it won't fit into your head.

Looks very intriguing! I hope there will soon be an AndroidVM on Jenkins. Is it only the VM or did you change things on the DrGeo side of things too for something like zoom-gestures? Did you describe the process of how to take the app from desktop (or what's the opposite of tablet?) to tablet somewhere? Or can you use exactly the same image? I would be very interested in learning more about it.. best regards, helene. -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/DrGeo-on-ARM-Android-tp4409727p4410128.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

You need to adapt the UI of course: bigger icons and the need to adapt the way math items are build from the interface. All this can be done at the image level. For now we have not yet look at the advanced gesture like zoom or multitouch, we need to think about an interface at the image level, consistent across the various tablet OS. Regarding Pharo I am pretty happy with its widgetry, themable, the ease to adapt an unique source base to different OS and hardware architecture. It scale pretty well. -- Dr. Geo -- http://www.drgeo.eu

Hi Hilaire, It's very cool ! I will probably working on a projet for an android tablet in the next weeks. That's could be cool to do it with Pharo. Could you share your experience about this subjet ? It will be nice to have a documentation about the problematic of the adaptation and the deploiment of an application made with Pharo on a Android tablet. What are the problems ? How to package the application to distribute ? What are the limitations ? I think many users will be interested to read you because mobility is become a critical subject. Best regards Olivier ;-) www.auverlot.fr
