Okay, so far, Quicktime builds ok (but i have no idea how to test if it working) ObjectiveC are available only for Cocoa builds, not Carbon. Applescript seems like quite dated one.. and should work without problems but it produces error when generating sources. It looks for AEDesc class, which is missing in my image. well... first difference (from your point of view): carbon vm's doesn't have ObjectiveC Bridge support :P in other things, you really shouldn't note the difference (some minor changes, but not really important, I think). The reason of the migration is because OSX changed all the user interface and support APIs (from carbon to cocoa), but you all already know that... And as I said, you shouldn't note the difference, because that's part of the point on using a virtual machine, to hide machine complexities and differences :) cheers, Esteban

Hi, Great. I just tried it and it works in Pharo 1.3. However, I stumbled across a small problem: "SmalltalkImage current platformName" which should be "Smalltalk os platformName". I think this is Pharo specific. Is it Ok to commit such changes, or is the code meant to work in Squeak as well (in which case, we should fork it for Pharo)? To keep it as simple and widely available as possible, why don't we use the power of Metacello, and break it into Core and Platform sub-packages, making the "Smalltalk os platformName" call in a helper extension method (*Platform). This way the code will be in one place (no fork) and compatible with Pharo and Squeak. Sean, I've tried with a PharoCasts video and it works (OSX Lion, Pharo 1.3, Eliot's Cog VM), that's wonderful !!! Does it work on Linux / Windows ? I'm thinking about distributing a one-click image with PharoCasts videos Laurent.
Laurent , feel free to leave a note on cog issue tracker, so sooner or later we could make it working :)

Hi all, does that mean, that somebody is going to finalize Sean's Quicktime harvesting ? If not, I'm offering to do that job. A few remarks, what has to be done from my point of view (must not be a player like that in Squeak): start pause, stop (removes the morph - BTW, remove via halo leaves a transformation morph) slider volume and mute reposition and resize (not via halo) ExternalDrophandler other than .mov video formats to be checked (what QT player is accepting) - an issue for the plugin (to be done by somebody experienced with plugins and details of video formats) Anyway I'm preparing a concept for that and like to have it reviewed, if you want me to do that job. In this context I also like to mention mp3 harvested kindly from Sophie by Sean as well it didn't work for me, as I tried it yesterday - mp3 format issue - I assume it's due to less maintenance of the mpeg3 plugin ( it seems from old Squeak days and was never touched later ) - did experience that with Squeak as well 2 years or more before Would like to handle this as well, but requires contribution of someone with plugin and mp3 experience I guess Cheers Johannes Am 29.07.2011 um 10:00 schrieb laurent laffont:

I can test it. Just point me to the VM.

From a user's perspective, what's the difference between Cocoa/Carbon?

www.squeaksource.com/Applescript
So, we need to load this code into VMMaker image for building it with applescript plugin.
Thanks for looking into this so quickly!
I'd like to thank you for giving feedback. Because when people remain silent, you have no clues, whether they are satisfied with your work, or just ignoring it because they not using it :)

Hi, Ok, first of all... Sean, your requests are not being ignored. As soon as you asked for ObjectiveCPlugin, Quicktime and Applescript I added them to the builds from hudson. Then I retired Applescript plugin because it is an error on source code generation. After that, I updated my system to Lion and started fighting with some compilation problems (sdk 10.7 changed some things that made B3D plugin to stop compiling, for instance). So, I was hoping to find time this week to resume everything to work and to see why Applescript plugin is not being generated. Please, I beg for some more of your patience, I know is hard to wait :) Cheers, Esteban El 26/07/2011, a las 6:18p.m., Igor Stasenko escribió:

That seems to be the stack VM that is missing the plugins, not the interpreter VM, no?
You listed following plugins: ObjectiveC, Quicktime, or Applescript i will check them if they can be built.

Applescript seems like quite dated one.. and should work without problems but it produces error when generating sources. It looks for AEDesc class, which is missing in my image. Any idea where it can be found?

I know that! I have nothing but respect for the invaluable VM maintainers. I only keep mentioning it because the subject keeps coming up. Esteban Lorenzano wrote:

Thank you for doing that. Esteban Lorenzano wrote:

Given that you are doing all this for free as a gift to our community, I'm satisfied waiting as long as it takes. If I haven't already by ESUG, maybe there I will learn more about VM compiling so I can help.
