There were people trying to use ODBC to talk to an excel file, but to "query". I don't think it would work for "manipulate"

if is is a comma-separated file (.csv) you can easily parse the lines with String>>#findTokens:escapedBy:

Of course this does not help with real excel files.... which are quite complex (as one would imagine)
