No, the directory is actually /Users/mariano/.config/pharo/general
Of course it can be changed if that's what people want. I have no idea, StartupPreference was like this before I touch it ;)
It seems in linux they are stored that way so to avoid lots of .xxx in the $HOME. So you use one directory for all your conf ;)
