As my student replied, according to http://www.pharocasts.com/2012/06/athens-and-native-boost-at-work.html, she downloaded the image from https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/view/Pharo%201.4/job/Pharo%201.4/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/Pharo-1.4.zip. Looks like the conventional Pharo 1.4 works with Athens. That sounds a bit surprising for me.
