Because even if you can fit all data in memory, consider how much time it takes for GC to scan 4+ Gb of memory, comparing to 100 MB or less.
But do you think there is no solution to that. Imaging Pharo as computer model, no files, only objects. No way to implement proper GC ��in such environment?
